again, the quote, published by him. Fact. Him being a pervert. also Fact. that's called objective thinking. try it sometime.

You saying you would give up liberties for your "freedom". Interesting, what liberties would you give up, because you sure don't get to choose them. How about you turn over your guns, and by the way, the government is going quarter government employees in your house to better see the situation.

No one supports illegal immigration. I never suggested that. I merely stated that giving up essential liberties and being subject to profiling is absurd and against the very foundations of our government which you obviously miss out on.

Ringgold33. Poor Ben. You use him to try to bolster your original posting and then call him a pervert.

If the issue is “what should the U.S. do about the expanding population of illegal immigrants?” then I support giving up some liberties to assist in the expulsion of illegals.

Again you missed some important facts on the TSA problems. The TSA did not strip search a 6 year old boy. The father took off the boy’s shirt, not the TSA. The father was frustrated because the TSA stopped the boy at the checkpoint because the alarm went off.

A Washington Post-ABC News poll released Nov. 23 shows that 70 percent of Americans support “profiling people, using available information about passengers in order to determine who gets selected for extra security screening at airports.”

Do you think a majority of Georgia residents (the legal ones) support allowing illegal aliens to remain and continue to expand in Georgia, or does the majority support their removal?

I didn't misquote Franklin, the quote is published by him, assigned to his name in history, so either your argument in that reference is incorrect, illogical or you don't know what the word misquotes means.

And he was, documented. He was a bigot, and a pervert. Sorry. His political ideology was as sound as day and night, his social life not so much. That goes back to the argument that you don't have to be a holy man to be a good leader, sorry if you don't correlate that.

My argument which you obviously didn't understand was turning America gradually into a police state as our individual liberties get torn away at. The "aliens" are unknown, so to rectify the government of Arizona wants to profile racially anyone of Hispanic dissent and ask for identification. Why not everybody?

Your argument for profiling was absolutely obscene and defeated your argument in the eyes of everyone one here. A "white" guy is robbed, and the police should search every "black" girl. That is the profiling you don't have a problem with?

The TSA, absolutely not. They strip searched a 6 year old boy. An obvious threat to national security. Again, it is these kinds of acts that are the gradual wearing down of our individual liberties.

It is obvious you have no education in regards to the Constitution or the founding fathers or we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Ringgold33 misquotes Franklin as a reference to try to make a point in one posting, and then when corrected, calls Franklin a bigot and sexist pervert. First you let Ben be thought of as an expert driver, and then you throw the man under the bus. An interesting way to approach what you call “debate and intelligent thought”.

It is about illegal aliens. My concern and emphasis centers on the issue of pointing out the difference between legal immigration and illegal aliens.

Why do we as a nation tolerate illegal aliens? Why can we not more simply control legal immigration?

I have no problem with profiling. It is done every day. If the bank reports that an elderly white guy just robbed the bank, do you think the police should also stop and search every young black girl on the street?

We probably must give up some of our individual liberties and tolerate the searches being done by the TSA at airports currently. The debate can rightly include review of the depth and degree of those searches. A balance of safety and intrusion of liberties must be found.

Likewise, if you calmly review the Arizona plan, there was an attempt to balance the intrusion on legal citizen’s rights with the balance of identifying illegal aliens. An interesting result of even promoting the law is the exodus of illegal aliens from Arizona. The exodus is a benefit for Arizona and a potential future problem for Georgia or other states with lax enforcement of our laws.

Ringgold33. Sorry, but not a tea bagger. Actually would probably have to vote for Obama rather than Palin. But surely you are not bigoted against tea baggers? Even the stupid need representation.

yes catsport, Franklin was also a bigot and a sexist pervert. Your comment on wet(back)? reveals your nature as a likewise bigot incapable of actual debate and intelligent though.

And I tagged his name because it is the most recognized and in fact quoted, by him and published. Also, there is no proof or verification that Jackson authored the original quote but that is relative anyways.

It isn't about illegal aliens, it is about the in discriminatory profiling of American Citizens. Why are only Hispanic looking people the ones being carded? Why not the entire population as a whole?

Your comment about protecting out liberty by stopping aliens is just absurd because illegal immigrants do not infringe on your personal freedoms because that would lead to trouble and eventual deportation so that is a poorly designed argument.

Also, the signs, that would be because there is no law on the books that signifies America as an "English" nation.

I mean your arguments are obtuse and juvenile. You sound just like a...oh...you probably are a tea bagger.

Ringgold33 is all wet(back?) in thought and incorrect in fact as well.

Franklin published the original quote in 1759, but the author was Richard Jackson, not Franklin. While Franklin believed strongly in liberty, as did all the founders, he was very practical.

Ben Franklin actually said, in 1755, "Why should Pennsylvania, founded by the English, become a Colony of Aliens, who will shortly be so numerous as to Germanize us instead of Anglifying them?" Franklin strongly felt that too many Germans were being allowed into the US.

Franklin was right then and right today. Why should the United States become a colony of aliens? Then, as we should be doing now, we need to protect our liberty by stopping illegal aliens from colonizing the US.

Why should the US need signs in Home Depot or Lowes in anything but English?

Arizona is right on and Georgia better follow and shape up.

The "illegal is illegal" is correct. Only two issues really need to be controlled: No jobs for illegal aliens and no birthright. If parents are illegal then the kids are illegal; they should all be sent back to their native country.

All that talk about "Who would do the manual labor?" As in many other countries, legal, yes legal, workers get temporary work permits. But right now all the illegals in the US should be deported and bring in the legal workers from all countries, not just Mexico. Control immigration, balance the diversity.

Don't infringe on our existing legal citizen's liberty.

please Snarky, I have been to Arizona, and am thankful I don't live there. And, the police state was a metaphor of the idea that is being pushed there and across the nation. People are giving up their individual freedoms for "safety". "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin

Arizona is not a police state. I used to live there. It is a great big hauntingly beautiful state full of good people you would be proud to call your neighbors. They are law abiding people of all faiths that just happen to distrust the overbearing, arrogant powers in Washington D.C.Their elected legislature passed a law that some people disagree with. Those people are now calling Arizonans names that they use on us southernoers whenever we disagree with their narrow worldview.

I know these people pretty well. They will not back down.So the haters had better bringa lunch, because it will be a long time before they cave in to pressure.

Yay let's turn our country into a Police state that profiles its subjects and infringes on their civil liberties alright!!!....actually that sounds a lot like what we fought against in World War 2. You know, the Nazi's, Hitler, Jews, that whole thing?

What idiot draws these?
