At the meeting March 13, the Battlefield Civitan Club kicked off the drive by bringing hundreds of diapers to donate to the Catoosa County Department of Family and Children Services as well as North Georgia Community Action. Both facilities assist families in need.
The diaper drive will extend through March 23, when the civitan group will be collecting diapers at Chick-Fil-A in Fort Oglethorpe from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The club, which is dedicated to service projects, is asking for community support to collect diapers for newborns to adults. Diapers can be dropped off any time at Sentry Station Tire at 2645 Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe.
“The diaper drive is to support families in the northwest Georgia community that are financially in need,” said club president Chuck Cochran. “Diapers are expensive and cannot be purchased with food stamps, creating a burden for those families with children or adults who need them.”
Many concerned individuals in Catoosa County are looking for a way to give back or help others, but are not sure where to start. The diaper drive is an opportunity for those individuals to get involved and give to those in need.
“The Battlefield Civitan Club has service projects every month and would love to have others join us,” Cochran said.
