Larry Bates Reed, 86, Flintstone

Larry Bates Reed of Flintstone died Sunday, January 13, 2013. He was 86.

He had lived in the north Georgia area for most of his life and attended Solid Rock Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local #704 for more than 50 years. He had also devoted a lot of his own time playing the role of Santa Claus for more than 12 years for many local schools and businesses within the north Georgia area and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas and Elizabeth Kay Reed; his wife, Virginia Ann Drake Reed; and several siblings.

Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Allen and (Sandra) Reed and James Thomas and (Vicki) Reed; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and (John) McDaniel, all of Flintstone; four grandchildren, Angela Garren, Sean McDaniel, Jennifer Reed and Brittney Reed; great-grandson, John William "Jay" Bell; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Thursday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bros. Jeff Brown and John Moorehouse officiating. Burial: Forest Hills Cemetery. Visitation: Tuesday, Jan. 15, after 5 p.m., all day Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mildred Opal Coleman Burnett, 84, Rossville

Mildred Opal Coleman Burnett of Rossville died Sunday, January 13, 2013. She was 84.

She has been a resident of Rossville since 1951, and was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church, Gateway Campus. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Burnett; parents, Atticus Ray and Lola Williams Coleman; and brother, William Coleman.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Ann Burnett of Chattanooga and David and Leslie Burnett of Birchwood; sister Berthel Moses of Pisgah, Ala.; grandchildren, Adam, Christian and Canaan; great-grandchild, Molly; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service: Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Leroy Wilson officiating. Burial: Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Visitation:. Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. and prior to the service on Wednesday.

Opal Mae Pressley, 86, East Brainerd

Opal Mae Pressley of East Brainerd died on January 11, 2013, at her son’s residence in East Ridge. She was 86.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga where she was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She retired from Rossville Yarns in 2000 with 27 years of service. After her retirement, she worked for America’s Thrift Store for six years. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in her yard and gardening. Her passions in life were her family, church, and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Pressley; daughter, Christine Campbell; daughter-in-law, Shirley Pressley; sisters, Ruby Bidwell and Lela Pressley; and brother, Charles Cranfield.

Survivors include her son, David Pressley of East Ridge; sisters, Betty Hubbard of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Wilma Pressley of Rossville; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Daniel Ray Cavin, 54, Ringgold

Daniel Ray Cavin of Ringgold died Monday, January 7, 2013. He was 54.

He had lived in the Ringgold area for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Cavin.

Survivors include his son, Robert Cavin of Ooltewah, Tenn.; sister, Eva Darlene Gutshall of Ringgold; grandson, Robert Hugh OLee Cavin; and nephew, Stephen Gutshall, Jr.

Services will be private and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Fred Karnes, 79, Rossville

Fred Karnes of Rossville died Friday, January 11, 2013, in a local hospital. He was 79.

He was a native of the Kankakee Bradley area in Illinois and had lived in the Rossville area for 40 years. He played bass guitar with the County Travelers Band. Passions of his life include country music, playing his guitar, family and his dogs "Little Girl" and "Minnie."

He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Karnes; parents, Lemuel and Violet Karnes; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his children, Yvonne Karnes of Indiana, Freddy Joe Karnes of Illinois, Daniel Karnes of Ohio, and Betty Jean Hair of Florida; ex-wife and caregiver, Anna Mae Karnes; ex-wife, Shirley Gillespie; brothers and sisters, Edward Karnes of Alabama, Alfred Karnes of Washington, Joyce Delvany of Arkansas, Jean McDowell, Janice Karnes, and Conrad Karnes, all of Illinois; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Clara Jo Seay Sehorne, 87, Ooltewah

Clara Jo Seay Sehorne of Ooltewah died Saturday, January 12, 2013. She was 87.

She had lived in the Rossville area for most of her life and was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Ooltewah, Tenn. She was previously employed with Tic Toc Restaurant for more than 40 years as a waitress and enjoyed fishing, camping and water skiing. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Moses Seay and Mary Louise Roach Seay; husband, Byron "Cal" Sehorne; son, Terrell Ramage, Jr.; great-grandson, Steven Tyler Haley; and several siblings.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and (Steve) Haley of Ooltewah, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and (Pat) Ramage of Nashville, Tenn.; step-children, Linda and (Mike) Weathers and Dina and (Dwight) Jones all of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Max and (Glenda) Sehorne; sister, Ethel Boggs of California; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Imogene Scruggs Weaver, 83, Ringgold

Imogene Scruggs Weaver of Ringgold died Sunday, January 13, 2013. She was 83.

She had lived in the north Georgia area for most of her life and was a member of West Park Baptist Church. She absolutely adored children and was Granny to everyone she met. She enjoyed life, spending time with her family, as well as fishing, gardening, attending church and going to the beach. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Weaver; great-grandson, Ryan Campbell; and several siblings.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Roy Dale and (Kristy) Scruggs of Ringgold; chosen daughter in her heart and husband, Kay and (Gary) Magin of Rossville; brothers and sister-in-law, Frank and (Sarah) Williams and Robert Williams, all of Rising Fawn; grandchildren, Misty Scruggs, Jereme Scruggs, Joey Scruggs, Jonathan Scruggs, Chanel and (Andy) Touchstone, Angel Dobbins, Lee and (Carrie) Sutton, DeAnna and (David) Caronna, Brandon and (Brittany) Callahan, Shane Magin and Gary Magin; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Lewis H. Catlett, 93, Tunnel Hill

Lewis H. Catlett of Tunnel Hill died Sunday, January 13, 2013, in National Healthcare Center in Rossville. He was 93.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Simmie Langford Catlett and Arrie Bell Catlett; brothers, Tom Catlett, Bob Catlett, Wilbur Catlett, Leo Catlett; sisters, Eunice Wiatt, Eugina Biggs, Mary Shaw, Eleanor Shaw, Kathline Catlett, Gertrude Smith; wife, Aldena Cummings Catlett; son, Harold Langford Catlett; and infant twin sons.

Survivors include a son Larry Catlett; a daughter Gloria Catlett Luffman; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Nathan L. York, 39, Rossville

Nathan L. York of Rossville died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in a local hospital. He was 39.

He was a 1991 graduate of Ridgeland High School, received his B.A. degree from Mercer University, his master’s from Ole Miss and was in the process of receiving his doctorate degree. He was a French professor at Rice University and taught English in Lyon, France, for several years. He was inspired to teach French from his teacher, Ms. Hull. He attended the Fort Oglethorpe Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had a passion for God, writing poetry, learning and teaching.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy York; grandmother, Janie Louise Brown; and infant twin sisters, Jennie Lynn and Sue Ann York.

Survivors include his mother, Rebecca York of Rossville; half-brothers, Paul and Mark York; paternal grandparents, Harley and Corrinne York; aunts and uncles, Linda, Tommy, and Wanda York, Carl and Billie Foster, Kathryn and Kenneth Christopher, Teresa Phillips, Juanita Tracy, Jean and Jr. Osborne, Kenneth and Janice Shrader, Alford and Gean Phillips, Jessie and Cynthia Phillips; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John “J.T.” Hammond of Ringgold died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at his residence. He was 59.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Margaret Floyd Hammond.

Cleo Frances Weathers Knipp, 88, Chickamauga

Cleo Frances Weathers Knipp of Chickamauga died Friday, January 11, 2013. She was 88.

She was born to the late William O. and Hartie Tinker Weathers in LaFayette on January 3, 1925. She attended Victory Tabernacle of Praise in LaFayette.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Knipp; 15 brothers and sisters; and one stepson, Roy Knipp.

Survivors include two stepchildren, Allen Knipp and Mary Bartrum; six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mary Ruth Gooch Barnes, 90, Rossville

Mary Ruth Gooch Barnes died Tuesday, January 8, 2013. She was 90.

She was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo and loved flowers and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Florence Boss; her first husband, William Kendrick; second husband, James Guy Gooch; last husband, Robert "Bob" Barnes; daughter, Billie Sandra Coppinger; stepson, Lamar Barnes; and two sisters, Ara Ellis and Thelma Swanson.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Howard (Cliff) of Rossville, and Judy Jackson Allison (Jesse) of Chickamauga; son, James Leon Gooch of Rossville; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Oscar Joseph Tipton, Jr., 86, Ringgold

Oscar Joseph Tipton Jr. of Ringgold died Wednesday, January 9, 2013. He was 86.

He was born to the late Oscar J. and Cora Hall Tipton in DeKalb County, Ala., on December 1, 1926. He retired from Rossville Yarn, was a 20-year member of Joyful Sound Church, a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and participated in the moving of the John Ross House in Rossville, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Ott Tipton; children, J. M. Ott and Marie Walker; two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his children, Carolyn (Larry) Blake, Evelyn (Jack) Young, Mary (Lonnie) Walker, Alice (James) Barker, Henry and Kenneth Ott, Brother, Johnny Tipton; grandchildren, Donnie (Wendy) Eaton, Angel Blake, Barbara Holloway, Larry Ott, Marsha Phillips, Deborah Hale, Teresa Zendejas, Tammy Quinn, Lamar and Kenneth Walker, Joel Barker, Kenneth Ott Jr., Renee McDaniel, Donna Weaver, Brenda Hale, Sandy Elliott, Justin and Wendy Ott; and several great-grandchildren.

Barbara J. Black, 64, Tunnel Hill

Barbara J. Black of Tunnel Hill died January 9, 2013, after a long illness. She was 64.

She succumbed to the dreaded disease of A.L.S. By profession she was a master barber and medical secretary who possessed a heart of gold.

Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, James "Cotton" Black; children, Tim (Brenda) Black of Tunnel Hill, Nath (Vickie) Black of Dalton, Gina (Dale) Adams of Ringgold; she was a proud grandparent of six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was also survived by her sisters, Caro-lyn, Martha, and Brenda of New Jersey, and Joyce of Florida.

Many heartfelt thanks to Hamilton Hospice folks of Dalton for their unwavering support during our most difficult journey.

Eva Dill Owens of LaFayette died Thursday, December 27, 2012. She was 79.

She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Owens.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Bill) George of Lawrenceville; son, Dennis (Ann) Dill of LaFayette; sister, Ingrid Gabel of York, Neb.; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Robin Sanders, 51, Chattanooga

Robin Sanders of Chattanooga died Tuesday, December 25, 2012. She was 51.

She was preceded in death by brother, Roy Alan Sanders; and mother, Jodie Sanders.

Survivors include her daughters, Samantha Alley, of N.C., Stephanie Coon, and Angela Reeves, both of New Mexico; sons, Chris Moreland, of New Mexico, and Dalton Moreland of Tenn.; sisters, Donna Strini, of Ooltewah Tenn., Lisa Bardwell of Rome; brother, Ricky Sanders of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Mickayla Alley, Alex Napper, and Isaiah Alley; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Barbara Lee Schulties Wallace of Rossville died Friday, January 4, 2013. She was 78.

She was born to the late John and Bessie Henson Schulties in Knoxville, Tenn., on March 29, 1934. She was of the Catholic faith and she retired from Dupont.

She also was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Foust.

Survivors include her son, John Floyd Wallace, and his wife Elaine of Conyers; sister, Nina Schulties of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.

Granville Curtis Daniel, 76, Rossville

Granville “Easy” Curtis Daniel of Rossville died Saturday, January 5, 2013. He was 76.

He was born in Rossville to the late Gus and Rachel Daniel. He drove trucks for Dalton Paving, McDowell Materials and was owner/operator of Daniel Trucking. He was a born-again Christian and was a member of South Rossville Baptist Church where he drove the church bus for 37 years.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Louise Brannon Daniel of Rossville; children, Curtis (Sherry) Daniel, Jr. of Chickamauga, Regina Daniel of Fort Oglethorpe, Nathaniel Gainer of Ringgold, Cody Daniel Cunningham of Rossville, Meagan Cunningham of Chickamauga; siblings, Randall Daniel of Rossville, Bobbie Jean Harris of Bryant, Ala.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Elmer Davis Quarles, Jr., of Rossville died Sunday, January 6, 2013. He was 64.

He was born in Tunnel Hill to the late Elmer David and Christine Quarles. He was an archery shooter champion and loved playing billiards.

He also was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Mealer.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Gail Quarles of Rossville; children, Sabrina Quarles of Ringgold, David Alan Quarles of Millen; siblings, Steve Mealer, Jessie Mealer, both of Tunnel Hill, Kathy Gowin, Diane Mealer, both of Dalton, Teresa Morgan of Wartburg, Tenn.; grandchildren, Ethan and Erica Kirby, and Tristian Quarles; and many nieces and nephews.

He was born to the late Willie C. Camp and Ruth Camp Boyd on January 3, 1953, in Dunlap, Tenn. He worked as a machinist for Propex Industries for 17 years, was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide and NASCAR fan.

He also was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Camp.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Camp of Graysville; son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Terri Camp of Rossville; step-daughter, Michelle Domaingue of Cohutta; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Randy Mangrum of Cleveland, and Roberta and Vance Rose of Soddy Daisy; five grandchildren, Haleigh, Levi “Bubba,”Logan, Elizabeth and Catherine.

James T. Shupe of Graysville, Tenn., died Sunday, January 6, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 76.

He was a native of Ronceverte, W.Va., and had lived the majority of his life in the Trenton and Chattanooga areas before moving into his dream home in Sequatchie County. He served as a manufacturers representative in heating, ventila-tion and air conditioning, and was former owner of Shupe, Carboni, and Associates for many years. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Iles and Electra Smith Shupe; brothers, Iles and William Shupe; sister, Neva Wright; and niece, Marianne Berber.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Kathy George Shupe. Jim and Kathy renewed their marriage vows in 2012 in West Virginia. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Jennifer (Brent) Brumlow of Chattanooga, and Cindy (Bruce) Limbach of Verona, Ill.; grandchildren, Karen, Lyndie, and Joseph Carboni, Raney Brumlow, Curtis and Amanda Limbach; sister, Eva Shupe Smith; and nephews, Ed Smith and Terry Woods.

Harry Shamhart, 96, Lookout Mountain, Tenn.

Harry Shamhart of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in a local hospital. He was 96.

Born January 8, 1917, Mr. Shamhart died on his birthday. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech. During the war years he worked on the Manhatten Project in Oak Ridge. After the war, he was employed by Cutter Laboratories in Chattanooga. He built and was then the manager of Cutter Lab Plant in Ogden Utah, later returning to Chattanooga as plant manager. He was a member of the Rockwood Christian Church where his grandfather had been the minister of The Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal on Lookout Mountain. He was a member of the Fairyland Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Min Acuff Shamhart, and a brother, Jack, who died in the White’s Creek Boy Scott flood in Roane County. He also was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Christine Howard Shamhart.

Survivors include his daughter, Martha (James) Ensign; granddaughter, Christie (Lee) Wright; and great-grandson, Jack Wright.

Stark Anthony Greer died Monday, January 7, 2013, at his residence. He was 49.

He was a native of Cullman, Ala., living in north Georgia for the past 18 years. He was a jewelry maker. He enjoyed camping, music and music concerts and was a real artist at heart.

Karen Blackburn Garmon of Southside, who died on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at UAB. She was 50.

She was born August 19, 1962, to the late Harvey O. and Lera Burke Blackburn. Her early school years were in Huntsville, Ala. She completed her junior and senior years at Southside High School, Southside, Ala., graduating in 1981. She received a BS in computer programming from Jacksonville State in 1985. She worked many years for Mowhawk In-dustries in Dalton.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald O. Blackburn, Grady D. Blackburn, and David A. Blackburn.

Virgil Eugene Brown, 85, Fort Oglethorpe

Virgil Eugene Brown of Fort Oglethorpe passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family and with his daughter holding his hand as he walked into Heaven’s gate. He was 85.

He became a Christian at age 23 and loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a dedicated family man, and even through his sickness he always brightened up when the loves of his life, Brittany and Brynn, walked in the room. He became a supporting family man at the early age of 15, where he was manager of the Home Store in Red Bank. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and upon his release from military service he went to Kirkman Technical School to study printing. He worked at Arcade Printing for 13 years and retired from Starkey Printing following 25 years of service. Following retirement, he opened his own business in 1988 called “The Little Brown Print Shop” on McFarland Avenue until his sickness forced him to retire in September 2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Lee and Alma Brown, granddaughters, Karen Brown and Ashleigh Thomison, and brother, J.T. Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Norma Jean Gaston Brown; sons, Gary (Louise) Brown, and Chris (Maxine) Brown; daughter, Carol (Wade) Thomison; sisters, Reba Bell and Beatrice Landers; grandchildren, Brandon Thomison, Brittany Thomison Raines, Gary Brown, Jr., Christy Brown and Chris Brown, Jr; great-grandchildren, Brynn Raines, Taylor Brown, Ashley Brown and Thorne Brown; four brothers-in-law that he loved like brothers; several nieces and nephews. He and Jean opened their home and their hearts to 200 foster children over the years as well.

He was a member of Rossville Church of God of Prophecy.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Leon Chattin and Lynn Eugene Chattin.

Rev. Luther Lee Parker of LaFayette died Friday, December 28, 2012, at his residence. He was 89.

He was born May 15, 1923, in LaFayette. He was the son of the late Logan and Eunice Parker. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka, Kansas, for a number of years prior to moving back to LaFayette. He was a retired pastor and served at numerous churches in north Georgia over the course of 40 years. After retiring from the ministry, he spent a number of years assisting Mr. B. J. Gambill in his various enterprises. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in LaFayette.

Other than his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Logan Parker, he was preceded in death by brothers, Roy Parker, Logan Parker, and Hoyt Parker; sisters, Lucille Bomar, Lillie Mae Houston, Calalee Price, and Grace Treadaway; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Morris.

Anna Edith Landen Middleton of Tunnel Hill died on Friday, December 28, 2012. She was 96.

She was a lifelong resident of the Tunnel Hill area. Born to the late Ray and Hattie Smith Landen, she was a founding member of Pine Hill Baptist Church where she faithfully attended all her life.

Robert Franklin Fowler, 78, Chickamauga

Robert "Frankie" Franklin Fowler of Chickamauga died Friday, December 28, 2012. He was 78.

He was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was of the Baptist Faith. He served his country as a military Intelligence technician in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and two tours in the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star before retiring in 1972. He also retired from Walker County as the Director of Civil Defense in 1992 after 20 years. He was a great and honorable man who will be missed greatly by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Paskel and Beulah Mae Autry Fowler; son, Richard Fowler; sister, Lillie Mae Nibblett; and brother, Bob Fowler.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Joyce Fowler; children, Robert Fowler, Jr., of Chickamauga, Debbie (Michael) Garrett of N.C., and Michael (Carmen) Fowler of Harrison; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Frank Cheli of Ringgold died Saturday, December 29, 2012. He was 76.

He was born in Oakland, Calif., to the late Fred and Anne Cheli. He served as a M.P. in the United States Air Force Reserve and later retired from Lucky Stores after 45 years of service as a meat cutter. He attended Covenant Life Worship in Chickamauga.

He also was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Karen Cheli.

Robert William Chamlee, 65, Ringgold

Robert William Chamlee of Ringgold died Sunday, December 30, 2012, in a local hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was 65.

He was born April 28, 1947, in Atlanta to John Henry and Adele Chamlee. He was a graduate of Perry High School and Georgia Tech with a degree in civil engineering. He then received his master’s degree from Oklahoma State University and retired from the Corp of Engineers Mobile, Ala., as a geo-technical section chief after 37 years of service. He moved to the Chattanooga area in 2002 where he worked for Arcadis Engineering for 10 years. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Audrey Tolbert Chamlee, a native of Mobile, Ala.; mother and father, Adele and John Henry Chamlee of Jonesboro; sisters, Sandra (Richard) Brockmann of Perry, and Susan (Phillip) Sligh of Sharpsburg; daughters, Dawn (Jamie) Hughes of Griffin and Theresa A Hill of Willis, Texas; sons, Michael (Jessica) Chamlee of Smyrna, Michael G. Willie Gilbreath Bethune-Price, 89, Higdon, Ala.

Willie Gilbreath Bethune-Price of Higdon, Ala., died Monday, December 31, 2012, in a local health care facility. She was 89.

She was born in Ft. Payne, Ala., on May 3, 1923, to the late William and Ellen Gilbreath and spent many years in Dade County, Bryant and Higdon communities of Sand Mountain. She was a member of the Mountain View Church of God and was employed for many years at Nation Hosiery Mill and Brock Candy Company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, J. B. Bethune and James Price; daughter, Sue Reeves; grandsons, David Reeves and Jordan Bethune; and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her children, Donald (Evelyn) Bethune of Ringgold, Faye (Charles) Buchanan of Higdon, Ala., Terry (Diane) Bethune of Fort Oglethorpe, Deana (Darryl) Smith of Ooltewah, Gary (Connie) Bethune of Chattanooga, Deborah (Rick) Lyons of Chattanooga, and Ronald (Pam) Bethune of Fort Oglethorpe; son-in-law, Douglas Reeves of Trenton; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon and husband, Ray Martin, of LaFayette; sons, Victor and wife Judy Grice, of Sacramento, Calif., and Ronald and wife Monica Grice, of Lakeland, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
