A Rossville man and his cousin were arrested in Fort Oglethorpe on Christmas Day after the two were allegedly smoking marijuana in the parking lot of a gas station along Cloud Springs Road.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

James Gregory Coleman, 27, and Joshua Randall Hodge, 20, both of Lillan Drive in Rossville were arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 25, on charges of possession of marijuana less than one-ounce.

Both men have since been released from jail on bond.

The incident took place about 9:40 p.m. at the Kangaroo convenience store at 4257 Cloud Springs Road after an employee notified police of two suspicious men in the parking lot.

"I spoke with the clerk, who advised that the two males had purchased two cigarillo wrappers and then went out to their truck," officer Michael Cannon wrote in the report. "She stated that when she went outside, she saw the two men smoking and detected the odor of marijuana."

Officer Cannon then exited the store where he encountered Hodge, who was driving the vehicle.

"I could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from his person," Cannon said. "I asked if he'd been smoking marijuana and he stated yes."

Hodge also admitted that there was additional marijuana in his truck with his cousin James Coleman.

"I secured Mr. Hodge, and made contact with the passenger Mr. Coleman," Cannon said. "Mr. Coleman was attempting to place marijuana inside the cigarillo wrapper. I secured the marijuana, and then secured Mr. Coleman."

Both men were taken into custody and transported to Catoosa County jail while the marijuana was collected as evidence.
