Hundreds of visitors and tourists made their way to Chickamauga on Saturday, Sept. 18, for the town’s War Between the States Day, held annually to commemorate the two-day Battle of Chickamauga in 1863. Old-time cars lined Gordon Street, along with handmade crafts on sale during the inaugural “Chickamauga Yesteryear.” Cannons thundered once again, startling many an unsuspecting youngsters and their parents. Re-enactors portrayed the harsh living and heroic bravery that soldiers on both sides of the battle endured.
