Catoosa County on Tuesday, Aug. 17, declared September as Literacy Month. Shirley Smith, executive director of the Catoosa County Learning Center, was present during the proclamation. The Catoosa County Learning Center, in partnership with Catoosa Citizens for Literacy, will donate 900 dictionaries to third-graders in Catoosa County for the fourth year in a row. The organizations also help with GED preparation and financial assistance.
