North LaFayette Elementary School fourth and fifth grade Kaleidoscope students competed in the WordMasters Challenge.

The WordMasters Challenge is a national competition for students in third through eighth grade, which encourages growth in vocabulary and verbal reasoning.

This year, fifth graders Mary Faith Campbell, Garrett Dills and Mason Wilson received National Honorable Mention for their scores which ranked in the top 10 percent nationwide. Mason Wilson received National High Honors for his score which ranked in the top 2 percent of participants at his grade level nationwide.

Over 4,200 school teams from 50 states participated this year. This competition addresses higher-level word comprehension and helps students learn to think both analytically and metaphorically.
