The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorists in Northwest Georgia of a traffic shift on I-75 northbound at Cloud Springs Road/Exit 353 in Catoosa County, scheduled for Friday, April 2, to allow for work on the median at this location. Starting at 8 p.m. Friday night through early Saturday morning, the three northbound lanes of I-75 between mile markers 353 and 353.5 will be shifted to the right from the existing roadway into the newly constructed lanes and bridge.

“We have made every effort to minimize the impact this median work and the traffic shift it requires may have on the heavy traffic on I-75 just south of the Tennessee State line. Informing the public in advance of this operation; working in phases; and working at night are only a few examples of these efforts,” said Kent Sager, district engineer at the DOT office in Cartersville, Ga.

The median work at this location is part of a 0.93-mile project of widening for additional lanes and interchange reconstruction on I-75 at SR 146/Cloud Springs Road. The project also includes the construction of a new bridge and approaches on I-75 over SR 146. Work on this project began the third week of September 2007. The entire project is expected to be completed by mid-July 2010, at a construction cost of $28,276,129.
