Flegal Insurance owner Bob Stiles wants to see Rossville become a “more viable city.”

A longtime business leader in Northwest Georgia, Stiles donated $2,500 to the Rossville Downtown Development Authority following the Rossville Town Hall Gathering Nov. 12.

“I hope it goes somewhere to provide a more dynamic community and provide jobs and a better place to live,” Stiles said. Stiles said he understood that there had been bad economic times and the city needed the help.

RDDA chairman Ron Wade said he appreciates Stiles’s effort. He said the city would need more citizens to come forward to help in the revitalization of Rossville.

“The city government manages the town, and revitalization must come as a movement from the citizens,” Wade said. “The more an area is improved, the more the citizens improve their personal situation.”

Wade said the Town Hall Gathering created new excitement in Rossville. “The gathering brought a new perspective that there are enough people who care about Rossville and the city going in a new direction,” he said.

Flegal Insurance was established in Rossville in 1917. Bob Stiles bought the company from Bob Flegal and his wife in 1970. He has added partners Lane McKown and Tony Jones and expanded the business to Summerville and Woodstock, Ga.

Stiles is from a long line of insurance agents. His grandfather, father, brother and sister all have been in the insurance business. The family tradition continues today with his nephew Lane Mckown and his two sons Wil and Rob giving the family four generations and 103 years of insurance experience.
