The Graysville Track Team has had an amazing run over the last three years. In meets where there is scoring, Graysville remained undefeated with a record of 9-0. The last two years Graysville has won the Catoosa County Cup presented to the elementary track team that wins the meet held by Heritage High School. This was started last year by Heritage, so Graysville is the only elementary school to win the trophy.

Graysville students were able to celebrate the track team’s success with a special presentation of the Catoosa Cup trophy by Heritage coach Alan Broome. Heritage student and cross country team member Stephanie Shipley also spoke to the students about working hard and staying healthy to participate in sports.

One of the keys to Graysville’s success is the number of students that participate on the team. There are usually between 70 and 80 students on Graysville’s team. Many don’t actually participate in meets, but they enjoy being part of the team and practicing. There are usually between 55 and 65 students who participate in the actual meets. At track practices, Graysville students work hard and have fun. Track coach and PE teacher, Jeff McGuire says, “It’s all about doing your best at all times.”
