Mr. and Mrs. James McLowery Agnew Jr. of LaFayette announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Beth, to Drew Hardison Gandy, son of Mr. and Mrs. George August “Skip” Petters of Atlanta, and the late Richard Norman Gandy.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James M. Agnew Sr. of LaFayette and the late Grace McCauley Agnew, and Mr. and Mrs. Greeley Ashworth of LaFayette and the late Nannie Kay Ashworth.

She is a 2002 graduate of LaFayette High School, and a 2006 graduate of the University of Georgia where she received a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She will graduate from Emory University School of Medicine in May 2010.

The future groom is the brother of Grant Gandy of New York, N.Y., and Ross Gandy of Atlanta. His grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman F. Gandy, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Ralph Hardison.

He graduated from the Westminster Schools of Atlanta in 2002 and the University of Georgia in 2007 with bachelor degrees in psychology and economics. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He is pursuing his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, June 20, at Lake Toxaway Country Club in Lake Toxaway, N.C.
