Rossville Middle’s seventh grade basketball team defeated LaFayette 47-41 Monday night. The Roadrunners led 39-31 late in the third quarter, but were held to just two points in the fourth by a stingy Rossville defense.
The Bulldogs were led by Devaughn Buchanan’s 18 points and Shaquille McCin’s 14 points. Brett Butler paced LaFayette with 19 points and 12 boards. Treas Jackson chipped in nine points.
The Rossville eighth grade team also scored a win against LaFayette, defeating the Runners 38-18 on Tuesday.
Carlan Bowman scored 14 points to lead the Bulldogs. Alric Adams led LaFayette with six points while Chace Bailey added four.
GLMS, RMS wrestlers fall to Westside
The Gordon Lee Middle School Trojans and Rossville Middle School Bulldogs both were defeated by visiting Westside Middle School on Tuesday.
The Trojans lost to Westside, 42-27. Taylor Pace (109 pounds) and Matt Brooks (165) recorded pins for the Trojans while Dustin Underwood (78), Jackson Bass (100), Josh Weller (115) and Austin Goodlet (123) all won on points.
Rossville also fell to Westside by a 66-12 count. Jacob Ellis (180) and Clint Womack (HWT) scored pinfalls for the Bulldogs.
