One man is dead and another hospitalized following a shooting Wednesday night in Rossville.

According to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson:

The shooting occurred at 20 Longstreet Road in the Fairview community, off McFarland Avenue, in Rossville.

It involved two Hispanic men. One man was pronounced dead on the scene. The other man, who suffered a gunshot to the throat, was transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

“It appears that the deceased is a 21-year-old male and the victim that was transported was 16-year-old male," Wilson said.

The men’s identities were not immediately available.

Our detectives are still out working the case as I speak,” Wilson said about 3 a.m. Thurs-day. “They’ve gone to Erlanger to try to see if they can interview the shooting victim."

Investigators hope to have more information to release Thursday afternoon, including the motive for the shooting.
