Walker and Catoosa residents have until Saturday to nominate veterans to be honored at a special celebration this month.
Yvonne Morgan, of Burning Bush Gifts and Tuxedos in Fort Oglethorpe, will collect the nominations for the veterans celebration, slated for June 26.
“We will honor a Veteran of the Year from Catoosa and Walker counties, and we will honor them with a pretty plaque that evening,” Morgan said. “I talked to Walker County Commissioner Bebe Heiskell, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson and with the Chamber, and they are all helping.”
If the celebration goes well, it will become an annual event, she said.
The dinner, which begins at 6:30 p.m., includes hot dogs, watermelon and moon pies.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
