A Rossville couple, charged with murder in the death of their toddler son, has been extradited to Catoosa County.

According to Catoosa County Sheriff Phil Summers:

Christopher Pierre Hicks, 30, and Suzette Marie Callaway, 28, of 153 Nason St., Rossville, are be-ing held without bond in the Catoosa jail. They were arrested on Dec. 6 and denied bond in the first appearance hearing. Summers said he expects the couple will stand trial for murder in March.

Owensboro, Ky., police arrested the pair in July on narcotics charges after Callaway purchased chemicals used to make methamphetamine, also called crank. As Kentucky authorities booked Cal-laway and Hicks into the Daviess County Detention Center, they learned the couple was wanted for murder in Catoosa and placed a hold on them.

The murder charges stem from the Feb. 17 explosion that severely burned 15-month-old Shelton Hicks.

Hicks and Lance Rockholt, 31, of the same address were operating an illegal methamphetamine lab in the house Lance and Connie Rockholt shared with the toddler’s family. The lab exploded, burning 30 percent of the toddler’s body.

Catoosa authorities arrested Callaway, Hicks and Connie Rockholt on drug and child neglect charges. The parents were released on bond in February.

Shelton was treated at Shriner’s Burn Unit in Cincinnati and subsequently hospitalized in Rome. The boy went into cardiac arrest on June 14 and died two days later.

Upon the boy’s death, charges against the four suspects were upgraded to felony murder.

Lance Rockholt remains in the Catoosa jail, while his wife pled guilty in October to a reduced charge and agreed to testify against the other three suspects in the case
