Mark Reavely of Ringgold won a delightful prize to kick-start the summer. Reavely, 38, won $50,000 playing Jumbo Bucks Classic, a Georgia Lottery instant game.

He bought the winning ticket at Sunrise Market, 550 Page Road in Rossville, while on his way to work. He scratched the ticket in his car.

“I was in complete shock,” said Reavely, who works at a Fort Oglethorpe medical center. “I told my mother, and she had a fit. She was really excited.”

His immediate plans are to pay bills.

“I never expected it, but winning feels great,” he said.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
