Fort Oglethorpe authorities say they shut down a prostitution ring on Tuesday that had likely been in operation for some time at a local spa.
Following an undercover investigation, police arrested two women at New Horizon Spa, 107 Crye Leike Drive, on charges of keeping a place of prostitution and masturbation for hire, Fort Oglethorpe Police Chief Steve Blevins said.
Detectives and officers arrested Chom N. Moran, of Louiseville, Ky., and Tae Cha Gilmore, of Morrow, Ga., after they offered sexual services to an undercover detective, Blevins said. Both suspects have previously been arrested for prostitution, he said.
Another individual, Jun Young Kim, was charged with obstruction as he tried to flee the scene after officers entered the business to make the arrest.
Blevins said the three were taken to the Catoosa County Detention Center without incident.
Suspicions arose two months ago that the spa was acting as a place of prostitution, the police chief said.
“The spa had been placed under surveillance for about a month and a half as officers watched many cars frequent the place of business,” he said.
Detectives will be following up with clients identified during the investigation as frequent visitors to the spa, Blevins said.
The police chief advises those clients to contact police, rather than wait for detectives to contact them
