A Rossville woman was arrested for aggravated assault after allegedly threatening to kill her cousin during an argument.

According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office:

Jillian Michelle Phillips of Cochran Drive was arrested on Feb. 16 for aggravated assault with a weapon.

According to the victim’s statement, Phillips was involved in a “very heated argument” with her cousin.

Phillips grabbed the woman by her neck, choking her, and then threw her to the floor.

Another person who witnessed the incident had to separate the two women from fighting.

Phillips went to a bedroom and retrieved an H&K Model 923 revolver and returned to the room, threatening to kill her cousin.

The witness forcefully took the gun away from her and called authorities.

Officers documented the minor cuts that the woman had received from Phillips, who was described as appearing “very intoxicated” at the time of arrest.

IMO that lady shouldnt be able to own a gun after this, because it clearly shows she isnt responsible enough to have it.

So guns don't kill people, booze kills people. That's the solution...ban alcohol.

Sounds like things got really heated between the cousins. Good thing the only thing that stops a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun or this could have gotten ugly.

Oh, I just reread the story. The crazy drunk had a pistol and was probably ready to waste everyone there. And a witness with no weapon took the crazy lady's gun away before any shot could be fired. NOBODY DIED thanks to the sane witness, NO thanks to a crazy lady owning a gun.

I love stories like this.

Some may consider that maybe the "booze" is what caused the woman to become "crazy" but it sounds to me like the intoxication definitely played the largest role in heating up this whole situation..

I believe everyone along with this family should be very thankful that no one was hurt and the situation was snuffed out before, like another reader said, everyone was killed or mourning the tragedy all together.

"I love stories like this'

I do too ! They show quite clearly that sober, responsible gun owners are no threat to society. They know that guns and alcohol don't make good play buddies. But people that get drunk as a lord can't appreciate the dangers of firearms. (And I'm almost sure that the cops that showed up to arrest her were sober and...Carried sidearms.

I'm glad we agree!
