An East Ridge, Tenn., man was arrested in Fort Oglethorpe after he crashed his motorcycle along Battlefield Parkway while driving DUI in the rain, police said.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Ronald Branham Perry Jr., 41, of Westonia Drive in East Ridge, Tenn., was arrested Sunday, Feb. 10, on charges of DUI, open container, disorderly conduct, failure to maintain lane, and too fast for conditions. He has been released on bond.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on the 1300 block of Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway).

“I was dispatched to the location where Lt. John McGrath was investigating the motor vehicle crash of a motorcycle,” officer Michael Cannon said. “Upon my arrival, I was advised by Lt. McGrath that the male subject was traveling westbound on Battlefield Parkway in the rain when he lost control of his motorcycle, crossing the fog line and striking the concrete median.”

Both Perry and the motorcycle slid about 100 feet before coming to a stop in the eastbound lanes of Battlefield Parkway, reports show.

Following the wreck, Perry refused medical treatment from Angel EMS, and puzzled officers when he repeatedly reached into the inside pocket of his jacket after being given several directives to keep his hands in plain sight.

“When I approached Mr. Perry, I detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and marijuana coming from his breath and person,” Cannon said. “Mr. Perry then agreed to and was given standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.”

Perry was placed under arrest and searched, at which time two knives, two handguns, and ammunition for both firearms were found, reports show.

Perry was taken to Erlanger at Hutcheson medical center for a state blood draw before being transported to Catoosa County jail.

Well well well... driving a motorcycle in the rain at 10:30 at night while drunk and high on weed. Then having 2 knives and 2 guns on him. looks like this(barely)upstanding citizen just missed his Darwin award.

The article does not mention the amount of bond, but I hope to hell it was very high (like Mr. Perry here).

Kind of makes you wonder who's life was saved by him wrecking that bike and going to jail. Booze, drugs and guns don't mix and he was probably about to cause someone a lot of misery.

Thank you for putting him behind bars and hopefully he's still there.
