The incident occurred Wednesday, Feb. 6, when 15-year-old Aaron Black was sent to assistant principal Eric Beagles’ office on a disciplinary matter. Black was given three days of in-school suspension for making inappropriate comments to another student.
“The student (Black) was unhappy with the punishment for his behavior,” said Marissa Brower, communications specialist for Catoosa County Public Schools. “He stood, reached across the assistant principal’s desk, and grabbed the telephone receiver. When the assistant principal attempted to hang up the phone, the student reported that he was injured.”
Following the incident, Black and Beagles gave different accounts. Black alleges Beagles grabbed his hand and slammed it on the desk. Beagles said Black’s hand was under the telephone receiver when he went to hang it up.
As of Wednesday, Feb. 20, no disciplinary action had been taken against Beagles, who is also school’s head baseball coach.
Sheriff Gary Sisk said the case is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.
Brower said school officials are waiting to follow the sheriff’s lead in the matter.
“The school system has fully cooperated with the Catoosa County sheriff’s investigation,” she said. “The school system will close the investigation when a final report is received from the sheriff.”
They say that this kid is trouble with a capital "T" and he was not hurt by the V.P. He had already sustained the injury. The students are very pissed off that their V.P. may get fired over this. They really love him and they are willing to make statements to the police telling what they saw.
