Fort Oglethorpe police detectives are investigating a vehicle theft that occurred sometime over the weekend of Feb. 9-11 at the Bi-Lo grocery store on Battlefield Parkway.

The victim in the case told police he parked his vehicle in the Bi-Lo parking lot at 531 Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway) at approximately 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, in an attempt to sell the car, and that he returned two days later to find it missing from the lot.

The man checked with Bi-Lo employees to see whether anyone from the store had the vehicle towed, and store officials said that they did not, reports show.

The missing vehicle is a red 1997 Mazda MX5 with a black convertible top with Georgia tag number AYR8717.

The vehicle has an estimated value of $2,000.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the vehicle or the theft is encouraged to contact the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department at 706-866-2512.
