NGAC Basketball: Lakeview girls, LaFayette boys into semis

The Lakeview Middle School Lady Warriors and LaFayette Middle School Ramblers earned the last two tickets to the semifinals of the North Georgia Athletic Conference tournament with victories at Heritage Middle School on Thursday night.

The No. 4-seeded Lady Warriors, who trailed 25-19 entering the fourth quarter, outscored No. 5 seed Dade County 11-3 in the final period to pull out a 30-28 win.

Rachel Harwood had 13 points and Sydni Eaves added nine for Lakeview. Tori Reed and Hannah Monday had nine and seven points, respectively, for the Lady Wolverines.

The nightcap saw No. 4 LaFayette put three in double figures in a 49-41 win over No. 5 Dade County.

Tyrese Hunter had 15 points for the Ramblers. KaDarrin Ramsey and Alex Kelehear added 11 each with Kelehear sinking a trio of three-pointers. Jesse Holt had 14 for the Wolverines.

The semifinals will start at 4:30 on Friday with the No. 1 Heritage girls taking on Lakeview, followed at 5:45 by the No. 1 Gordon Lee boys against LaFayette.

The third game is slated for 7 between the No. 2 Ringgold girls against No. 3 Gordon Lee, while the No. 2 Trion boys will face No. 3 Heritage at approximately 8:15.

The girls' championship game will begin at 12 noon on Saturday with the boys' game scheduled for 2 p.m.
