A Red Bank, Tenn., man is being held in Catoosa County jail after traveling to Ringgold to engage in sexual contact with what he thought was a minor child, police said.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office:

Nathaniel Kenneth Hartwell, 42, of East View Court in Red Bank, Tenn., was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 8, on charges of criminal attempt at aggravated child molestation, criminal attempt at child molestation, and computer pornography and the child exploitation act of 1999.

Hartwell allegedly traveled to a gas station along Battlefield Parkway for the purposes of meeting up and having sex with a minor child, but was instead met by members of the FBI's Innocent Images Task Force with assistance from Catoosa County Sheriff's detectives.

Hartwell was taken into custody and transported to Catoosa County jail without incident. He remained Thursday, Jan. 10, in jail.
