CHICKAMAUGA - The Trion Middle School Bulldogs handed the Gordon Lee Trojans their only loss in the season opener back in November.

Tuesday night back in Chickamauga, the Navy-and-White got their revenge.

A big second-quarter run and solid second-half defense paved the way for Gordon Lee's 44-33 win. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Trojans (10-1 overall).

"You don't really need an extra motivation if it's Trion-Gordon Lee," GLMS head coach Chris Edge said. "The kids get up for those guys. They've got a good group over there and it was a good competitive ball game.

Tied at 10 after the first quarter, Gordon Lee got a three-pointer by Kobie Cowan to forge a 13-12 lead and jump start a 12-2 run that would carry them to halftime.

Gavin Robertson had seven points in the run, including a trey and a driving lay-up through the Trion defense, before Bailey Burns capped the half with a 19-foot jumper from the top of the key with just seven seconds left before intermission.

Gordon Lee would stretch out the lead to as many as 14 points in the third quarter, and they would hold the Bulldogs to just two points over the first five minutes of the fourth quarter before Edge pulled his starters with 1:42 to play.

Chaney Rogers finished with a game-high 14 points. Robertson added 13, and Cowan finished with six on a pair of threes.

Isaiah Foster led Trion with 13 points.

"We went through the first half (of the season), and I was pleased at the progress we made," Edge added. "We're by no means where we want to be yet, but we're working hard every day and they are buying into what we're trying to do. It's a lot of fun to coach when the players do that."

The opening game of the day saw the Lady Trojans (10-1) jump out to a 17-3 after one quarter and 39-5 at halftime as they rolled to a 58-14 win.

Eleven different players scored for Gordon Lee, led by Sarah Meadows' 10 points. Molly Thomison added nine, and Faith Alexander seven in the rout.

Gordon Lee's varsity games with Dade County, scheduled for Thursday, have been postponed.
