DNR seeking identity of illegal hunter

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources are offering a $100 reward. A hunter was illegally hunting on private property in Kensington on Oct. 20 at between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

A photo of the man was captured on a time-lapse trail camera. Along with hunting without permission the man faces another charge for not wearing the orange safety vest, according to DNR corporal Tommy Gentry.

Anyone who knows the identity of the man is urged to call 706-624-1367 or 800-241-4113. The caller can remain anonymous.

The $100 reward is part of the DNR’s Turn in Poachers program.

I fail to see the implications of the age of the equipment. It may be his favorite outfit. He should know where he is, if he had done proper scouting beforehand.I would guess the landowner does not know him, given the tresspassing accusation. Orange is required anytime during firearms season.

Just observations, People hunting with old equipment are just as guilty as people hunting with new equipment. Orange is required except on archery only areas which some are located in Kensington. I don't mind them prosecuting him. I just don't see why we have to post a trespasser not wearing orange in the paper and offer $100 reward. Throw the book at the guy but its not worth this much attention.

Ok, read my comment. I said "walking around with a bow, arrows and a tree stand most definitely indicates what he was doing" WAS being the key word here. He WAS hunting with all that gear, and he IS trespassing in that photograph.

But, by your logic, he just packs all his hunting gear up and takes off into the woods for a stroll. Not very likely. Like I said, you're a moron.

The guy is carrying a bow that is 20 years old and wearing old worn out boots and carrying a tree stand that is about 20-30 years old. He looks like he might be confused in that pic. I'm going to say that he got lost. If he was hunting on Pigeon during their archery season and got lost, he wouldn't have needed an orange vest to be legal. I have a feeling when the truth comes out on this story, it is just a big misunderstanding. I don't like trespassers but there are always exceptions. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

After taking a good look at the picture, there are still some green leaves on trees so it would have been taken during archery season on Pigeon Mountain. I'm not taking up for the fellow, I'm just saying there is more to this story than we are reading about.

oct. 20 was the opening day of firearm season,no matter what the weapon,the age of the weapon equipment,you are indeed required to wear orange,during firearm season,if he's lost from pegion?well then he is lost,in time he would have a cell phone the of a walky talky?lol looks to me like he's looking aT THE DEER SIGN that the camera is set up to monitor,and a fixin to find a place to set for the evening hunt.

Here's the questions I have. How far away from the nearest archery only area? How far from the nearest roads? How well are the private property boundaries marked? According to this story, we have little info. I did hear that he did not bother or steal anything during his visit to this property. If I decide to strap on my treestand and carry my bow up and Main Street am I hunting? I think not. The law is grey in these areas. Between 4 and 5 pm, he was walking somewhere to hunt. It might have been on this property or another close by. We could discuss this forver and get nowhere without the facts. All we know is he got his picture taken while on some property in Kensington while toting old antique hunting equipment and there is $100 reward on his head.

Trespassing, hunting illegally. Better be glad the camera was all that shot him.

To the moron below, walking around with a bow, arrows and a tree stand most definitely indicates what he was doing. Get a clue.

Your the moron if you think he is hunting when the pic. was taken. He is walking, with no loaded weapon, and 50 lbs. on his back, He isn't a ninja or an indian, he's not going to sneak up on a deer or get within 40 yards to get a shot at one. He is leaving his hunt, or going to hunt, but there he is passing by. Stop the 5th grade name calling and you get a clue.

Doesn't look like he is hunting to me. No arrow knocked, and not in a stand. He may be lost. He should wear the orange though, even though it is bow season.

oct.20,that was the opening day of firearm season,anybodyin the woods to hunt ,no matter how old the weapon or if they have an arrow knocked or not,if DNR catches you in the woods in the situation that picture indicates ,"YOU WILL GET A TICKET"
