Safe at Home Baseball Camp to be held on Saturday

The East Ridge Parks and Recreation Department and Stan Teem’s Safe At Home Baseball organization are joining to present two instructional baseball camps/showcases in December for 11-18 year olds.

The first camp will be held on Saturday Dec. 15 at 9 a.m. at the Old School Hardball training facility located in McBrien School at 1517 Tombras Avenue behind the East Ridge City Hall, East Ridge Community and Pioneer Park.

The second camp is scheduled for Dec. 29 at the same location.

The cost of each camp is $100 per player and will include a hot dog and Coca-Cola lunch and a Safe at Home Baseball camp shirt.

All players will play in at least one game and will participate in all workouts.

The instructional camp will be conducted on the field by the college and high school coaches as well as current major league players and professional baseball scouts.

There will be a question and answer session for parent interaction with the college coaches and pro scouts attending the camps.

Scouts and coaches from Covenant College, Shorter College, Southern Polytechnic, Alabama-Birmingham, Lee University, Georgia Southern, Young Harris College, Mercer University, Tennessee Temple, Chattanooga State, Middle Georgia College, Tennessee Wesleyan, Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, the University of Tennessee, the Minnesota Twins, the Toronto Blue Jays, the Boston Red Sox, the Florida Marlins, the Texas Rangers, and the Atlanta Braves have committed to the camps.

Scouts from all Major League teams along with coaches from all colleges in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama will be invited to the 2012 showcases.
