The Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) is coordinating the initiative to bring the state together as one community to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Georgia non-profits within a 24-hour, flash mob of giving. One hundred percent of proceeds will go directly to participating non-profits by donating through GAgivesday.org.
The initiative, which was officially declared Georgia Gives Day by Gov. Nathan Deal, provides citizens across the state with an easy platform to recognize non-profits across a variety of sectors for their invaluable efforts. Inspired by other successful days of giving in states such as Washington, Colorado and Minnesota, GCN developed its own effort to promote community awareness and the mission of non-profits that serve as the backbone for many communities across the state.
“Non-profits touch nearly every part of our lives,” said Karen Beavor, president and CEO of GCN. “We are very excited to give Georgians an opportunity to truly recognize the non-profit organizations in their community and give where they live.”
Georgia Gives Day is supported by a generous group of partners and corporate sponsors, including Cox Enterprises, Ames Scullin O’Haire Advertising, Encyclomedia, Edelman, Georgia Association of Broadcasters, Cox Media Group, Comcast, WXIA-TV, 11Alive , AutoTrader.com, Peachtree TV, Georgia Cable Association, The Coca-Cola Company, Mohawk, Wells Fargo, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, SunTrust Foundation, Community Foundation of Central Georgia, Clear Answer, Southwest Airlines, Georgia Power and Gas South.
“The holiday season is upon us, and Georgia Gives Day is the perfect way to give a tribute to someone in your life or to recognize a cause that is personally important. With more than nine million citizens in the state, it is important that all Georgians know it only takes one click to give back,” Beavor said.
It only takes one action; visit GAgivesday.org and click if you care to give back to participating non-profits in your local communities and throughout the state.
The mission of Georgia Gives Day is to inspire individuals to donate to participating non-profits with the goal of raising as much money as possible within a 24-hour period. GAgivesday.org makes donating easy by organizing hundreds of non-profits across the state onto one website, providing the information people need to select a cause or charity of their choice, and enabling online donations by credit card or e-check.
