With several Christmas tree farms in Walker County, you can also support the local agricultural economy. Along with supplying a tree for the season, these local farms provide an environment for the entire family to go out and choose and cut the perfect tree.
For those families planning to use a real tree this Christmas season, there are a few tips you should consider:
· Be sure you are purchasing a fresh tree that will not dry out prematurely. (This is not a concern if you are cutting the tree at a local farm)
· Make a new or fresh cut across the base of the trunk just prior to setting it up so that it will readily absorb water.
· Be sure to keep plenty of water in the tree stand.
· Place the tree away from heat sources in the home to prevent it from drying out or being a fire hazard.
