Fort Oglethorpe city council member Eddie Stinnett died early Wednesday morning (Nov. 28) from an apparent heart attack while driving in Fort Oglethorpe.

After suffering the heart attack, he lost control of his vehicle, which crashed into another car.

Fort Oglethorpe officials have not yet returned calls seeking comment or more information.

Elected in 2009, Stinnett was the retired owner of North Georgia Welding and Fabrication and a Fort Oglethorpe resident for more than 40 years.
