ESPN’s Barker keynote speaker at Junior Achievement luncheon in March

ESPN radio personality Jay Barker, who as quarterback led the University of Alabama to a national championship in 1992, will be the keynote speaker at Junior Achievement of Chattanooga’s Spirit of Achievement awards luncheon.

Set for Tuesday, March 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center, the Spirit of Achievement awards luncheon salutes those companies that have shown a commitment to Chattanooga and north Georgia children by supporting Junior Achievement for more than 33 years.

Honorees for 2013 are Economy Honda and Lawson Electric.

This year’s event will also include the presentation of the John G. Kain, IV Corporate Citizenship awards, as well as the Max W. Finely Volunteer of the Year award.

For more than 50 years, Junior Achievement of Chattanooga has served as the area’s premier economic education, non-profit organization, specializing in placing volunteers from the business community into classrooms in Hamilton, Catoosa, Marion and Walker counties. JA of Chattanooga will serve 10,500 students with the help of more than 500 volunteers during the 2012-13 school year.
