A LaFayette man faces several charges stemming from an incident earlier this month.

According to LaFayette Police Department:

Johnathan Russell Alexander of 511 Cook Road in LaFayette was arrested Oct. 5.

Alexander faces felony counts for false imprisonment, kidnapping and burglary, along with misdemeanors for battery and criminal trespass.

He was released on a $1,250 bond a few hours after being arrested.

Alexander allegedly entered a woman’s residence while she was out.

When she returned he had an argument her and then made accusations that she was in another relationship.

Alexander demanded to see her cell phone and punched her in the eye when she refused, according to LPD captain Stacey Meeks.

Alexander refused to let the woman leave and then notified her employer that she would not be in for a few days.

According to the victim’s statement, Alexander took the woman to an Alabama residence against her will from Sept. 24-28.

The female reported the incident after being dropped off by Alexander on Sept. 28.

In an interview with police Alexander stated that the female assaulted him first and that he “instinctively struck back at her.”

The two have had a tumultuous relationship that has been on and off for quite some time, according to Meeks.

Detective Darin Kelley did verify that Alexander called the employer regarding the woman missing work for a few days.
