First, let me say I am not one to usually write letters to the editor, but after hearing all the negative things that are being said about our commissioner, Bebe Heiskell, I felt I must write in support of her.
I worked with Bebe the whole time she was working for Roy Parrish, and I have also been on the Walker County Board of Assessors for the past several years.
People say she does not let us know what is happening in Walker County. Bebe has community meetings in each fire station every year. In our station, we have two or three people show up for these meetings, and I am told this happens at other stations. If you will come to these meetings, she will explain everything that is happening.
Bebe’s life is Walker County; she always has it in her mind and on her heart. We cannot lose Bebe as our commissioner.
Please go out and vote for her on Nov. 6.
Melba Powell, Catlett, Retired Walker County tax commissioner

The only thing that I saw was that whenever someone, including me would ask her a question, she would look over at David Ashburn for an answer and guess what? He would always answer the questions not that he actually knew the answer it appeared to me that he was making them up as he went along. If you will pay close attention you will see this for yourself.
Surveillance cameras were being installed. I do not ever
remember being able to vote on this. I suppose now our
taxes will again be raised to pay for this violation of our rights to privacy. This is another money grab. Wake up sheeple and smile you are now on the police camera.
Talking behind closed doors for your own agendas and affairs of what you think the county should be is not what is really cracked up to be.
I've lived here all my life and have seen the changes and for the most part, for the good of the people here. Bebe has always worked closely with other agencies in our area to get the best for our county.
If you want to be involved with change, just go to her meetings and "BE INVOLVED and GET INVOLVED".
