COMMUNITY · The 12th Annual Chattanooga Buddy Walk® will take place at AT&T Field, home of the Chattanooga Lookouts on Saturday, Oct. 13. The event is held to help raise awareness and funds for programs that benefit people with Down syndrome and their families. The Chattanooga Down Syndrome Society Buddy Walk will feature live music by DJ Joe Nabors, Inflatable Obstacle Courses, Inflatable slides, Face Painting, Snoopy, Looie from the Chattanooga Lookouts and other fun activities. COMMUNITY · The Chattanooga Zoo will host its annual “Banana Ball” from 6:30-11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the zoo, 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave. Banana Ball is the Chattanooga Zoo’s signature fundraising event with all proceeds going to the care of the zoo’s animals, as well as its conservation, education and rehabilitation efforts. COMMUNITY · Cloudland Canyon offers hay rides every Saturday now through Nov. 24. On Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31, there will be three night rides at 6, 7 and 8 p.m., for those who want to travel a long dark, dirt road into the forest to meet goblins and scary things of every description. Hot dogs, S'mores, snacks and drinks will be sold. Leashed and licensed pets may also ride. Meet at the Interpretive Center. Rides start on the hour from 2-6 p.m., except for Halloween. Park entrance is $5. Hay rides cost $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4 to 12. Haunted hay rides cost $8. The park is off Highway 136 near Trenton.

COMMUNITY · Tryouts will be held in LaFayette for an all-female football team. The North Georgia Thrashers are a new women’s football team trying to gain approval into the Women’s Football Alliance. All tryouts are at LaFayette High School at 10 a.m. every Saturday in September and the first two Saturdays in October. The team is accepting women of all shapes and sizes and ages 18 and older. COMMUNITY · The Georgia Winery is inviting its customers to help support the fight against Breast Cancer. During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), Georgia Winery will donate $1 per bottle for each “Pretty in Pink” sparkling wine sold to the MaryEllen Locher Breast Center at Memorial Hospital.
