Dear editor,

Hats off to Ales Campbell (remember that spelling) in her run for Walker County sole commissioner Nov. 6.

Although a former Dr. Shaw supporter, I would have been hard-pressed who to support had she ran in the primary against he and the current administration. Both stand for the same needs, needs not currently coming out of LaFayette like transparency in governance, lower taxes, lower indebtedness, higher job growth and honest debate on Walker county issues.

Being a “write-in” candidate (there are even hoops to jump through with the state for that designation) is a time-honored American political oddity, and used honorably. Candidates such as President Eisenhower won the day, at least in part, with a write-in vote in Massachusetts. Ales Campbell has stepped forward to offer a choice for Walker County voters.

A native grandmother, Ales is co-owner of a successful business, civic leader, personable, well-informed, honest and watches over 82 students on her Villanow school bus route.

I challenge fellow Walker County voters and taxpayers to vet Ales at writeinales.com.

When you vote: 1) touch “write-in” box for the sole commissioner’s race; 2) type A-L-E-S C-A-M-P-B-E-L-L on the screen keyboard; 3) touch “record write-in.”

Ales Campbell is the “write” choice for Walker County.

Becky, you have made the case for voting for Ms. Campbell better than a whole county full of yard signs. If you have to go trolling around in this lady's family's financial affairs (no doubt at the behest of a very scared Bebe Heiskell)to find some mud to throw at her, then I think that says just about all the voters need to know about the ethics of the Heiskell administration.

You undecided voters out there ask yourself: If this petty dictator can sic her mindless sycophants on this honorable, hard working lady, what will she do to you if you happen to disagree with her? This is just personal assasination of a decent person for short term political gain. The above comments say a lot more about Bebe Heiskell than Ales Campbell.

Look, she's scared. When you voters fought back against her fantasy hotel on the mountain, they did the same thing- Smeared the opponents and called them names. They lost because you actually took ownership of your government and taught them a lesson. Have the courage to do it again. Vote this woman out and it will be a lesson to every bureaucrat in LaFayette that we are watching and we do care what they do.

If you are a Democrat- You can actually have a seat at the table by writing this lady in on election day. If Bebe wins, she'll ignore you because you didn't have any skin in the game. By joining with the 49.85% that wants a change, you'll have a real voice when decisions are made. (And I encourage you to use that voice and be heard!)

It appears the back property taxes are a symptom of a larger problem

Liens against Payless Lifegate as recorded at the courthouse

book 24 page 354 owes IRS $7766.65 for 1999, 2000 and 2001

...book 70 page 722 owes State of Georgia taxes $10873.74

book 53 page 45 owes World Finance 834.00

book 57 page 758 owes World Finance 684.03

I find no record of a person or business called Payless Lifegate owning anything to the county, State or Federal Government. Are you afraid to used the real name because of a lawsuit? If that is the case ... then you are posting non facts. It appears you want to play in the mud and sling what you can ... that's the problem.

I do not live in LaFayette. I live in Walker County. Asside from an article in the TFP saying that Mrs. Campbell is a Grandmother and a school bus driver and has five children, most of us know nothing else about her. Besides being a close friend of Dr. Shaw and says she stands for all his political visions, does she have any political thoughts of her own? If I am to write her name on a write-in ballot, please tell me more of her education, management experience, and any other qualifications that would make her a good and qualified commissioner. There has not even been a political postcard in the mail that introduces Mrs. Campbell to us folks outside of LaFayette.

Will there be a debate before the election between Mrs. Campbell and Mrs Heiskell?

County residents sure would like to hear from both parties so we can make, evaluate and vote for the best candidate.

How can we trust someone that doesn't remember to pay their taxes to know anything about running a county? Do we want someone like this in charge of a $20 million budget? I think NOT!!

The write in candidate for Walker Commissioner owes back taxes. Do we need a commissioner who will not pay their taxes? NO.

I'm so imbarrased for Candidate Campbell. It's really sad that she has led Walker County Residents to believe that she is capable of running a multimillion dollar operation better than our current administration and can't even keep up payment of her own taxes!

Does she even realize how much lost revenue it would be for WC Iif everyone had a oops and neglected to pay taxes... No matter the amount! That would add up to a lot of needed funds for WC.

She owes each and every person that she has looked in the eye and made all her glorious promises to an apology. Furthermore, she should pull out of the race. I would never trust her with WCounty's money.

It's her husband’s business- had an overdue county property tax bill (for office equipment) amounting to some $300 and change. When notified of the problem, Campbell immediately paid the bill.

Twisted posts on windcrestviewpoint FB Page ... The school buses are NOT from Walker County. Ales Campbell passed yearly physicals, drug tests, State Safety Training courses, etc. & logged in over 87,000 incident-free miles. State Representative Jay Neal was also bus driver. So, why is driving a bus a bad thing anyway windcrestviewpoint?

I followed the Canyon Ridge project and I don't remember Walker County ever buying property for the hotel project. I have also searched the Assessor's office property records online and found no property belonging to Walker County at the Canyon Ridge site. All I remember is the county listening to the developer of the project to see if there was a role it could play in the project, which is common in economic development projects. I believe Ms. Heiskell did her job by looking at a possibility of growing Walker County's economy. But, I realize this is only my opinion.
