On Saturday, Sept. 22, the first annual Walker County Fire and Police Charity Basketball game will tip off at 7 p.m. at the Rambler’s Dan Priest gymnasium.
Walker County and LaFayette firefighters will battle the LaFayette Police Department, Walker County sheriff’s deputies, Georgia State Patrol troopers and parole officers as a fundraiser for the Care Mission, a LaFayette-based food pantry and clothing ministry.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Care Mission, where tickets are available for $5.
LaFayette High School has donated use of the building and will provide the announcer and scorekeeper. The concession stand will also be open.
Capt. Stacey Meeks with the LaFayette Police Department is coordinating the event.
Those unable to attend can always drop a donation by the Care Mission at 105 N. Chattanooga St.
Both teams will have local former high school standouts who will attempt to muster up their youthful skills.
