Treava Genell Watkins, 57, Lafayette

Mrs. Treava Genell Watkins of Lafayette died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Hutcheson Medical Center. She was 57.

She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church, owner of Genell Beauty Shop, and was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Eugene Watkins, Jr., and daughter, Gerea Chantelle Ludy.

Survivors include her sons, Pastor Gregory (Lashea) Ludy of LaFayette, Mr. Adrian (Chiquita) Ludy of Dalton, Mr. Shawn Watkins of LaFayette, Mr. Eddie Watkins; daughter, Mrs. Lula Whittenberry of Summerville; eight grandchildren; parents, Mr. John William (Mildred) Griffin; brother, Mr. John Henry Griffin of LaFayette; sister, Mrs. Yuvette (Chevette) Suttle of Atlanta; uncles, Misters Thomas (“T. Eric Michael Engel, 25, Chickamauga

Eric Michael Engel of Chickamauga died Tuesday, September 25, 2012. He was 25.

He was born in Marietta and spent most of his life in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., before moving to northwest Georgia only a few months ago. He was of the Christian faith, a former student at Sevier County High School, was presently working at the Huddle House in Chickamauga and he loved spending time outdoors skateboarding, snowboarding and hiking.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Buck and Mildred Moon; uncle, Greg Stroup and aunt, Sherry Hulsey.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Melissa Engel and Eric Ballard of Chickamauga, father, Michael Engel of Smyrna; brother, Ryan Chase Ballard of Chickamauga; aunts and uncles, Kristen Sandoval and Gary Spence of Lawrenceville, Cindi and Doug Elsberry of Chickamauga, Robbie Stewart of Breman and Jeff and Cathy Stroup of Connecticut; girlfriend, Elizabeth Stewart of Sevierville, and several other family members and friends.

Marty Dewayne Hall, Sr., 51, Rossville

Marty Dewayne Hall, Sr., of Rossville died Wednesday, September 26, 2012. He was 51.

He was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran who loved to drive, ride his Harley and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a devoted son, husband and father who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his natural parents, Delmer and Barbara Hall; brother, Delmer Lee Hall, Jr., and grand-parents, Orban and Evelyn Dotson.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy Hall of Rossville; two sons, William K. Brown of Ringgold and Marty “Dewayne” Hall, Jr., of Rossville; two brothers, Ricky Stephens and Rodney Stephens both of Lookout Mountain; two sisters, Teresa Blaylock of Rossville and Becky Smith of Calhoun; three grandchildren, Izaak Brown, Ian Farbo and Kenlee English; parents, Everett and Sheila Lambert, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Reese Glenn, Chickamauga

Mr. Reese Glenn of Chickamauga passed away Friday, September 21, 2012.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice Truell of Douglasville; grandchildren, Jill Richardson Neal and husband, Charles William, Joseph D. Richardson and wife, Chelsie; great grandchildren, Grayson Neal, Jacob Neal and McKenzie Richardson.

Warren Gamaliel Hughes, Ringgold

Warren Gamaliel Hughes of Ringgold and the Chattanooga, Tennessee area for many years, died in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sunday, September 16, 2012.

He was the son of the late Henry Edgar and Mary Lusk Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his son, Hank Hughes.

He was retired as general construction superintendent at Pinkerton and Laws Co. He served in the U.S.Navel Reserve during WWII as air navigator and air navigation instructor. He was a member of Ringgold Kiwanis Club, Oklahoma City Masonic Lodge #36 AF & AM, and Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for 62 years .He had a love for building and for his community and gave much time and energy to Habitat for Humanity in Chattanooga and Catoosa County. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Ringgold.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie Burke Hughes; son, Greg (Lana) Hughes; daughters, Della, Tracy and Lisa Hughes; step-children, Malcolm (Emily) Boothroyd, Teresa Hines and Mark Boothroyd; grandchildren, Kris, Jennifer, Ryan, Rachel and Ali; and sister, Margaret Goble.

Kathleen Elizabeth Hughes of Ringgold died September 22, 2012, at a local hospital. She was 80.

She was a lifelong resident of north Georgia and member of Calvary Memorial Baptist Church. She retired from Met Life Insurance Company. She loved reading and solving crossword puzzles.

Joan Elizabeth Hamilton Roach, 46, LaFayette

Joan Elizabeth Hamilton Roach of LaFayette died Wednesday, September 26, 2012. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was 46.

She faced illness and death with much grace and dignity, never losing her sense of humor and most importantly her faith. She will be forever in the hearts of her beloved family and many friends. She was a member of and baptized at Bay-side Baptist Church in Harrison. She was previously employed at Pediatric Diagnostic Association and was employed at Chattanooga Internal Medicine until her illness.

She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Robert Lee Hamilton, and grandparents, Howard and Minnie Franklin and C.J. and Pat Hamilton.

Survivors include her husband, Gregory A. Roach; sons, Brandon C. Staggs and Tanner J. Roach; mother, Joy F. Hamilton; mother and father in-law, Jerry and JoAnn Roach; special aunts and uncles, Carol and Mickey McCamish, Marie F. Daphne “Momma Pete” Peterson of LaFayette died Saturday, September 22, 2012. She was 104.

She was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She also worked on the service staff at Berry College.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Wilburn Peterson; sons, Frank Melvin Peterson, and Wilburn Eugene Peterson; grandson, Gary Peterson; sisters, Jamie Scoggins, and Mary Holbrook; brothers, Willie Coulter, Tom Coulter, and Roy Coulter; parents, Charles and Lillie Coulter.

Johnny Harris, Jr., of LaFayette died Tuesday, September 25, 2012. He was 50.

Mary Lee Kinsey Smith, 79, Villanow

Mrs. Mary Lee Kinsey Smith of Villanow died Tuesday, September 18, 2012. She was 79.

She was a loving wife, mother, and best friend. She was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church of Rocky Face.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Maggie Kinsey; son, Gary Smith, and five siblings.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-three years, Bassell Smith; daughters, Deniece and husband Raymond Daugherty, of Dalton, Deborah and husband, Danny Hobbs, of Villanow, and Sandy and husband, Steve Wilson, of LaFay-ette; son, B. Kim Smith, of Villanow; sister, Patricia Bates, of Dalton; grandchildren, Mark Smith, Machelle Hall, Brian Smith, Sharon Nelson, Preston Clark. Randolph Dewayne Copeland, 70, Chickamauga

Randolph Dewayne Copeland of Chickamauga died Sun-day, September 23, 2012. He was 70.

He was born in Fort Payne, Ala., and had resided in Chickamauga since 1960. He was a former employee of Chickamauga Telephone Company and Crystal Springs Mill in Chickamauga. He began work for Buckaneer Carpet Indus-try, which later became Galaxy Industries and at his retirement was known as MoHawk Industries. He was a hard worker and couldn’t stay retired long, therefore he began working with Wilson Funeral Homes in 2003, and was a current employee. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Crawfish Spring Masonic Lodge F&AM #300. He enjoyed fishing and had been a longtime NASCAR fan until Dale Earnhardt’s death.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father: Randolph Wayne Copeland.

Survivors include his mother, Edna Mae Tinsley Copeland of Chickamauga, his sweetheart and wife, Mrs. Sadie Gore Copeland of Chickamauga; their sons, Ricky (Carla) Copeland of Montgomery, Ala., Danny Copeland, Deron Gore both of Chickamauga; granddaughters, Salina and Sharissa Copeland of Montgomery, Ala.; and his beloved bulldawg, Cleo.

Rollin Dale Gates, 65, Dalton

Rollin Dale Gates of Dalton died Saturday, September 22, 2012. He was 65.

He was the son of the late Galen L. and Ruby R. Rogers Gates. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was currently employed with North Georgia Toyota in Dalton.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Gates.

Annie Ruth Davis Crow, 81, Chickamauga

Annie “Ruth” Davis Crow of Chickamauga died Tuesday, September 25, 2012. She was 81.

She has been a resident of north Georgia since 1954 and was a member of Cassandra Baptist Church and attended Chattanooga Valley Church of Christ. She loved to travel to any location and enjoyed quilting and search word puzzles. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene Crow, and parents, Edward and Pluma Hubbard Davis.

Survivors include her daughters, Shelia (Dewayne) Lewis of Chickamauga, Kathy “Kat” (Pat) Leming, of LaFayette and Fran (Johnny) Butler of Chickamauga; brother, Neal Davis of Rossville; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Kay Scott Marshall, 75, Flintstone

Kay Scott Marshall of Flintstone died Thursday, September 20, 2012, following a courageous fight with leukemia. She was 75.

She grew up on Lookout Mountain, Tenn., where she completed the 8th grade at Lookout Mountain Elementary School. She then completed grades 9-12 at G.P.S and earned an A.B. degree from the University of Chattanooga. She joined the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and was elected treasurer, and subsequently, president. She later obtained an M.S.S.W. degree from the University of Tennessee and was granted the Rhoda O’Meara Public Welfare Award. She retired from the Tennessee Department of Human Services following 36 years of service. At the time of her retirement, she was a District Director of Investigations. During her career, she was responsible for the development of two statewide programs. The CARESS program was a corrective action tool to identify errors causing overpayment in the food stamp and AFDC programs. Training was subsequently developed to prevent those errors. She also developed the VICTORY program, which was the food stamp work incentive/requirement program. Inactivity for Kay was unacceptable, so following retirement, she began working for Maximus, Inc., where she worked for seven years. Kay was a faithful member of the St. Elmo Church of Christ and served for almost twenty years as Secretary of the Board of the Educational Fund. She was a true animal lover and will be greatly missed by her cat, Velvet. Favorite hobbies were reading mysteries, doing family research, and e-mailing family and friends. Kay will be remembered for her laugh which was frequently heard and easily recognized.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Carr and Margaret Caldwell Scott, and sister, Bette Scott.

Survivors include her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Scott and Candace Addison Marshall; sister, Jayne Scott Plemons; brother, Jay Singer Scott; aunt, Evelyn Scott Vowell; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends for whom Kay had deep affection. A special thank you is extended to the constant support of family, friends, neighbors and church family, as well as Martha Greene, Robbie Robertson, Darlene Smyth, and Sheri Brown. You were all a blessing during this difficult time.

Charles E. Skinner, 63, Chattanooga

Charles E. Skinner of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Friday, September 21, 2012, in a local healthcare facility. He was 63. He was retired from the City of Chattanooga as a painter with 21 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Skinner, and brother, Harold Skinner.

Johnnie Jewel Lyons, 87, Dunlap

Ms. Johnnie Jewel Lyons of Dunlap died Friday, September 21, 2012. She was 87.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area who was baptized into the Baptist faith at a very early age and was a very spiritual woman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Willie Lee Lyons, and two sisters, Naomi Randoph and Wahneeta Blevins.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Bill McLin of Middleburg, Fla.; three brothers, Billy Lyons of Chickamauga, Ishmael Lyons and V.J. Lyons, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be private and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga, especially Doug Albritton and Pat Flowers for their care and dedication during this difficult time.

Marie Jones, 102

Marie Jones died Saturday September 22, 2012. She was 102.

Her greatest joy in life was her faith in God. She touched many lives through her wisdom and counsel. She was a faithful member of South Rossville Baptist Church for 85 years having taught Sunday School for 65 of those years. She was an employee of Peerless Woolen Mills and later worked at The Personality Shop in the Children’s Department for many years. She was an elegant and graceful lady. She loved gar-dening, reading, and family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, James D. Jones, mother and father, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine (Doug) Hayes and Barbara (Sonney) Tolley; grand-children, Steve (Debbie) Hayes, Terry (Jay) Floyd, Patti (Wayne) Funk, David (Sharlet) Tolley; seven great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services: Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeff Daniel paying tribute to celebrate her life and her home going. Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 24, from 4-8 p.m.

Sarah Alice Overton Crow, 78, Rising Fawn

Sarah Alice Overton Crow of Rising Fawn died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, after a lengthy illness. She was 78.

She had lived in Cape Coral, Fla., for most of her life before moving to the north Georgia area two years ago. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed life to the fullest, with shopping, traveling and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Dorothy Overton; son, Kendall E. Crow; and brother, Kenneth Lamar Overton.

Betty Lou Poindexter of Ringgold, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 23, 2012. She was 79.

She had lived in the north Georgia area for most of her life and was a member of Lakeview First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star-Pocahontas Chapter and was a devoted wife and mother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Alice Kilgore, and husband, Gene Poindexter.

Nora Rena Crosswhite Millard, age 79 of Flintstone, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012. She was 79.

She was a lifetime resident of north Georgia and was a member of Lake Howard Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and cooking, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jackson (Dempy) Millard, Jr.; parents, John and Bessie Shelton Crosswhite; and brothers, Carl and Frank Crosswhite.

Daniel “Dan” Longmire Edwards of Ringgold died Monday, September 24, 2012, at home. He was 67.

A lifelong resident of the north Georgia Chattanooga area, he was a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church. Dan and his wife, Fay, formerly owned and operated Ringgold Florist for 35 years, and the Ringgold Radio Shack for eight years. He recently had worked for T-mobile for seven years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Edwards and father, Falcom D. Edwards, and adopted parents Billy and Jean Hales.

William Otto Sartain, 82, Chickamauga

William “Bill” Otto Sartain of Chickamauga died Tuesday, September 4, 2012, from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was 82.

He was born in LaFayette to the late Virgil Elder and Lucy Hughes Sartain. He was a descendent of an old Walker County family, being the grand-nephew of James A. Sartain who wrote the History of Walker County. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he was a military policeman. During his service time, he was stationed in Germany where he met his beloved wife “Hedi.”After serving in the U.S. Army, he was employed by DuPont of Chattanooga where he retired after many years of service. He was of the Christian faith in the Methodist tradition. He enjoyed stamp collecting, read-ing, gardening and working on his farm.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.D. Sartain; sisters, Leota Mae, Mildred Carter and Jean Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Hedwig “Hedi” Mararinna Holzschuh Sartain of Chickamauga; brother, Paul Sartain of Chattanooga, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Monika Brown, of Lawton, Oklahoma, and many cousins.

Johnny Quarles, Jr., died Monday, September 24, 2012. He was 66.

He was owner and operator of Johnny Quarles Automotive equipment sales for 30 years, and was a member of Chattanooga American Business League, Team National (Presidential Level), Crawfish Springs Masonic Lodge in Chickamauga, and Anchor of Hope Baptist Church in Rossville where he served as a Deacon for many years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nell Quarles.

Hollis L. Compton, 74, Chickamauga

Hollis L. Compton of Chickamauga died Friday, September 21, 2012. He was 74.

He was born in Nashville, Tenn., to the late Lilliard I. and Nannie Sue Cavnor Compton. He served his country from 1956-1962 in the United States National Guard in which he was honorably discharged after eight years of service. He had worked for Penns Bakery in Chattanooga, Tenn., for several years before going to work for Krispy Kreme Donuts. Many folks around the Chattanooga and Chickamauga area knew Hollis as the “Doughnut Man” as he was the very proud owner and driver of the Krispy Kreme trimmed PT cruiser, which came as a gift after 36 years of devoted service to the company. Hollis loved his grandchildren and he loved all children in general. He contributed often and generously to the Shriners Burn Unit for Children and St. Jude’s Hospital for children. Additionally, he was the Tennessee State Champion at everything except Tiddlywinks. If you don’t believe that, just ask his grandchildren. He also enjoyed crappie fishing on Weiss Lake in Alabama.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Morgan Compton and Lilliard I. Compton, Jr.; a sister, Mary Elizabeth James; and a mother by marriage, Eretta R. Shaver.

Cleo Roberts Hird of Ringgold died Friday, September 21, 2012. She was 79.

She was born in Miami, Fla., to the late, Hilborn and Emma Roberts and has lived in the north Georgia area since 1992. She was very strong in her Christian faith and was a self-appointed animal rescuer. She was a devoted wife and mother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Huntley C. Hird, and brother, Leo Roberts.

Survivors include her three children and spouses, Brenda and Gary McConathy and Jerry and Linda Hird, all of Ringgold, and David and Diane Hird of Atlanta; and granddaughter, Victoria McConathy.

Mary Louise Smith of the Fairview community of Rossville died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, in a local hospital. She was 101.

She would have celebrated her 102nd birthday on Oct. 12. She had lived in the north Georgia area the greater part of her life and had resided the past 15 years with her daughter in Tunnel Hill.

She was a member of Clifton Hills Baptist Church and was employed as a seamstress with Signal Knitting Mills for several years. The happiest times of her life were being with her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie and Lee Wigley; husband, Paul John Smith; son, Thurston Smith; sister, Emma McBryar; and brother, James Wigley.

Reubon Brock of Ringgold died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at his residence. He was 93.

During his life he held various occupations such as farmer, machinist, building contractor, plumber, electrician, salesman and glass glazer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Peters Brock, and parents, Dophlus “Doc” and California “Callie” Patty Brock.

Mary Lucille Williams of Ringgold died Wednesday, September 19, 2012. She was 92.

She was born in Hayesville, N.C., the daughter of Thomas and Bessie Carter Cook. She married Holbert N. Williams of Ringgold and they lived in the Mt. Pisgah community. She was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and the ladies Sunday School class. She also attended the Catoosa Senior Center. She had many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Holbert N. Williams; brothers Allen and Robert Cook of Crossville, Tenn.; son Thomas Doyle Williams and grandson Joseph Hackett.

Survivors include his daughters, Loretta Stanley and husband Bill of Ringgold, Barbara Hackett and husband Pete of Tunnel Hill; son, Edward “ Jake” and wife Jan of Marietta; and sister-in-law Bonnie Cook of Crossville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and four nieces.

Paul J. Lee of Rossville died Monday, September 10, 2012, at his residence. He was 84.

A native and lifelong resident of the Rossville area, he was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and the owner of Optical Designs in Ft. Oglethorpe.

His parents, Oliver A. and Belle Sparger Lee, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sisters, Olive Lee of Rossville and Rose Horton of Atlanta; nieces, Cheryl Habit and Lynda Horton.

Darius Robert “Bobby” Littlejohn, III. of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Tuesday, September 18, 2012. He was 70.

He was born in Chattanooga to the late Darius and Betty Littlejohn. He retired from Roadtec after 23 years of service and was the former pastor of Kingdom Heirs Tabernacle in Fort Oglethorpe.

Nancy Belle Fleming Ray of LaFayette died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012. She was 94.

She was born to the late Grover and Ada Fleming on Feb-ruary 19, 1918, in Gaylesville, Ala. She was a charter member of New Harvest Baptist Church and she enjoyed nature, quilting, sewing and crafts, but most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Allen Ray; brothers, Willie, Ellis and Hugh Fleming.

Raymond “Buddy” Pilgrim, 76, Chickamauga

Raymond “Buddy” Pilgrim of Chickamauga died Monday, September 17, 2012. He was 76.

He was born in Trion to the late Thomas Grady and Donnie Tate Pilgrim. He was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Class of 1959, where he eventually earned his Master’s Degree in Industrial Management. He played football for Tech under coach Bobby Dodd as a lineman, and along the way made some lifetime friends. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he was a 1st Lieutenant. He retired from a career as a senior business executive in the sporting goods and apparel industries after traveling the world for most of his life. His travels took him to the UK, China, Korea, Taiwan, and other places that he loved to visit and where he made some of the best friends in his life. His companies, where he served as COO/CEO, included Oxford Manufacturing, Diversified Products, Bayly Manufacturing, Daisy Air Rifles, the Springfield Armory, and Danube Knit-wear in Budapest, Hungary, among others. He was an active member of Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church in Chickamauga. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Pilgrim, and a brother, Leroy Pilgrim.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Katheryn Hegwood Pilgrim; sons Jeff (Laurie) Pilgrim of Watkinsville, Andy (Candy) Pilgrim of Ooltewah, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jessica, Aaron, Matthew and Allie Pilgrim; several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Chloe.

He was a 50-year resident of Ft. Oglethorpe, and was retired from Cargill Industries. He was a disk jockey in Summerville, and was co-owner of Williams & Sons Grocery in Summerville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Terry Davis Williams.

Walter Clayton Holcomb, Sr., of Chickamauga died on Saturday, September 15, 2012. He was 74.

He was the son of the late Clyde and Margaret Thomas Holcombe. He was a member of St. Francis DeSalles Catholic Church and St. Gerard Catholic Church. He was a member of the North Georgians Right to Life, a member of the NRA and retired from Wheeland Foundry in 2002. His greatest joy in life was his family.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher and Vincent Holcomb and two sisters, Dot Williams and Kathy Marie Holcombe.

She was born to the late Luther and Bertha Harwell Ross in Ringgold on December 8, 1933, was a member of Indian Springs Church of God and she enjoyed reading, puzzles and traveling.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Simerley, Sr.; brothers, Eddie Ross, Roy Harris and Harold Harris.

Barbara Jean Laettner, 66, Hixson

Barbara Jean Laettner of Hixson, Tenn., died Thursday, September 13, 2012, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on September 26, 1945, and had lived in Hixson since 1978. Shortly after, she began her lengthy career in the transportation industry, first with Russ Transport, then with Covenant Transport where she retired in 2006. She enjoyed camping, boating, bowling, card games and socializing with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Daniel V. Donohoue, and brother, Daniel M. Donohue.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Gerald “Jerry” Laettner; sons, Martin (Terry) Laettner of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Craig (Linda) Laettner of Soddy Daisy; grandsons, Timothy and Adam Laettner of Soddy Daisy; and Amber Brown of Hendersonville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was born to the late Buster and Nellie Farrow in Graysville on May 15, 1934. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from Queen Carpet in Dalton after 25 years.

She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Mitchell Lankford and Sherry and Tracie Harris; sister, Ethel Farrow; brothers, Larry and Jim Farrow.

Paul Eugene Lockhart, 80, Rossville

Paul Eugene Lockhart of Rossville died Sunday, September 16, 2012. He was 80.

He was born in Tracy City, Tenn., to the late Buford and Minnie Lockhart. He served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. He retired from Potter Freight Lines as a truck driver in the 1970s and most recently drove trucks for Volunteer Express. He was a past member of VFW Post #214, and was a member of American Legion Post #95.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mazell Lacy Lockhart.

Survivors include his sons, Rick (Stacey) Lockhart of Ringgold, Terry Lockhart of Rossville; grandchildren, Reagan, Chris, Symra.
