The Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau in collaboration with the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce and the Dalton-Whitfield Joint Development Authority have partnered on a feasibility study of three important tourism elements for Dalton, according to a media release.

The study will include the benefits of renovation of the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center (NWGTCC) and development of a hotel adjacent to it, plus a water park visitor attraction.

Linda Wilson of Key Advisors in Atlanta has been contracted to carry out the study over the next 10-12 weeks.

“These areas of Dalton’s tourism landscape have been discussed in the past, so I am pleased the study will be conducted investigating the feasibility of these projects for our area,” said Brett Huske, executive director of the Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau. “This is only the first step in what could be a long process for any of these projects, but any of them would help grow tourism and economic prosperity in our region.”

The Dalton Whitfield Chamber of Commerce, Joint Development Authority and Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau are funding the study equally.

“Given the strength of our community's tourism segment, researching added avenues of economic growth could enable us to further grow our local economy and utilize our unique assets to their fullest potential,” said Brian Anderson, president and chief executive officer, Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce.
