Authorities arrested a man after he allegedly traveled to Ringgold with plans to have sex with what he believed to be a minor child.

According to special agent in charge Brian D. Lamkin, the arrest was part of an undercover sting involving the Northwest Georgia Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Daniel Austin, 56, of Actworth, Ga., was arrested Friday, Aug. 31, in Ringgold by task force agents with assistance from the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Austin is being charged with two counts of criminal attempt at child molestation, two counts of criminal attempt at aggravated child molestation, and computer pornography.

“Austin came to the attention of law enforcement over the internet wherein he began a series of chats with un-dercover agents and officers regarding his desire to have sex with a minor child,” Lamkin said in a news release.
