LaFayette teen arrested for stealing 17 firearms

A LaFayette teen was arrested for theft on Aug 14. after LaFayette police identified stolen items from pawnshop records.

According to Walker County Sheriff’s Office reports:

Chase Grim of West Shore Drive allegedly took $5,300 in cash, along with several pieces of jewelry and 17 firearms.

On Aug. 6 detective Steele of the LaFayette Police Department notified the victim that some of the guns had been sold at Corner Pawn Shop on Chattanooga Street in LaFayette.

According to the victim the items were taken from the same residence. Some items went missing beginning in November 2011 and the majority of items were taken in July 2012.

Three pieces of jewelry were appraised at $1,800. Seven pieces of jewelry were stolen.

The arrest report did not have a value to the collection of weapons, which included a Ruger Carbine with scope, a 9mm Glock from the Gulf War, and numerous other handguns.

Most of the weapons have been recovered and returned to the owner.
