The city of LaFayette will not be raising its property tax (millage) rate for the 2012-13 budget year.

A millage rate of 2.99, which the city council unanimously voted to uphold Monday, Aug. 13, has held steady since 2007.

Although the rate remains the same, because of lessening property values the amount of property taxes collected by the city in the upcoming year – a total of $427,999 – will be slightly less than that generated by the same rate for this budget year.

The city of LaFayette has already begun adjusting its upcoming budget accordingly and will be finalizing the budget within the next few weeks.
