A girl was struck by a Comcast truck while crossing West Tenth Street in Chickamauga Friday afternoon.

The child was retrieving something from a vehicle while her mother was checking out at a store (The Junktion) when she apparently ran in front of the truck traveling eastbound, according to an eyewitness.

“She was lying there motionless on her side with her head and hair back on the pavement,” the eyewitness said. “About the time that the ambulance arrived she started moving. …. She was in a lot of pain.”

The child landed approximate 10 feet in front of the truck when it stopped. She is believed to be a middle school aged child.

The accident happened about 3-3:30 p.m., according to another witness.

Attempts were made to contact the Chickamauga Police Department, but officers were on patrol and no further details are available yet.

The condition of the girl is not known at this time.
