COMMUNITY · The Rossville Public Library will host the Night Ninjas by Lee’s Tae Kwon Do at the Rossville Civic Center Tuesday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. The night ninjas will show us some cool moves.

COMMUNITY · The Chattanooga History Center will present the first lecture in a special preview series, Gallery Talks, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26. The series will examine each gallery visitors will encounter in the Center's new exhibit, scheduled to open next year. Each preview will stand as an independent program, and the first is “The Cherokee Nation: Struggle for Sovereignty.” The History Center’s executive director and historian, Dr. Daryl Black, will present the program. COMMUNITY · The Walker County Chamber of Commerce will host “Walker County City Updates” at its June luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at the Walker County Civic Center. Representatives from Chickamauga, LaFayette, Lookout Mountain and Rossville will give a brief update on the current status of their city as well as a brief outlook on the future. This program is designed to educate the citizens of Walker County of the happenings in the individual cities at one unified event. The cost to attend is $15 per person for chamber members and $25 per person for non-members. Registration includes a meal provided by Goetz Catering. COMMUNITY · Second Baptist Church in association with the North Georgia YMCA and the Chattanooga Area Food Bank will offer a free summer lunch program Tuesdays and Thursdays, to kids and teens ages 0-17. Come from noon-1 p.m. and enjoy free food, activities and stories. This program is made available through a USDA grant. Participants are required to eat at Second Baptist Church. The camps will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. each day at a cost of $60 per camp. Tuesdays will include work on the driving range, Wednesdays will be spent on the practice greens, and Thursdays will be reserved for on course work. The camps will be directed and taught by Eddie Jackson, a former PGA Tour player who has spent the past 27 years as a teaching professional. COMMUNITY · The Northwest Georgia Regional Commission will host a Transportation Investment Act of 2010 — T-SPLOST — informational outreach from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, at the Walker County Civic Center. There will be maps available for viewing and printed material fully explaining the bill that will be placed on in the July 31 referendum.

The PSA test is primarily used to screen for prostate cancer in men before symptoms appear. This is a quick blood draw from the arm with results mailed at a later date. Men must be at least 50 years old unless he is between 45 and 50 years old with a family history of prostate cancer. Cost for the screening is $15. Registration is required. COMMUNITY · An antique typewriter exhibit is ongoing at Chattooga Academy in LaFayette. The exhibit features Royal, Underwood and Smith typewriters, as well as Imperial and Smith-Corona typewriters. An Oliver No. 9 is also on display. The typewriters were manufactured approximately from between 1915-1950. A volunteer will be on-hand to assist visitors with the exhibit on Sundays from 1-3 p.m. Chattooga Academy is open from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. most days Monday through Friday. COMMUNITY · Combat Sports and Scorecard Athletics are conducting regional tryouts for the Team Combat All-American Team at Cleveland State Community College on Thursday, June 28, and Friday, June 29. The tryouts are open to baseball players age 13–18. All players attending the tryouts will have their baseball skills evaluated by coaches and have evaluation profiles and reports made available to numerous college coaches and scouts.
