A Chattanooga, Tenn., couple was arrested in Fort Oglethorpe after they were caught shoplifting at one store and are being investigated for several other thefts, police say.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Nicole R. Dryman, 32, and Jason Allan Dryman, 34, of Rossville Boulevard in Chattanooga were arrested on Friday, June 15, and charged with several counts of shoplifting. Jason Dryman was also charged with driving on a suspended license.

Officers were dispatched to the K-Mart at 526 Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway) about 5 p.m. Friday in regards to a shoplifting call that indicated a female offender had been detained while her accomplice was outside the store waiting for her.

“Upon our arrival, I stepped inside to meet with loss prevention officers and to process the female offender,” officer Mitchell Moore wrote in the report. “Additional officers took up a position where they could observe the driver outside.”

While officer Moore interviewed Nicole Dryman inside K-Mart, officers did the same with Jason Dryman in the store parking lot.

During questioning of Jason Dryman, it was discovered that he was operating the vehicle he was traveling in on a suspended driver’s license, and looked to be in possession of several items that appeared to be stolen.

The Drymans were taken into custody and transported to the Catoosa County jail without incident.

Further investigation into the case revealed that loss prevention officers with the Wal-Mart on Battlefield Parkway met with K-Mart officers during a city court session the night before the arrests on Thursday, June 14. During that meeting, K-mart officers were given details and photos of the Drymans, who were suspects in alleged thefts that have taken place at the Wal-Mart on several occasions, reports shows.

Following the couple’s arrest, the items seized from their vehicle were returned to Wal-Mart so that officers could go through the items and confirm or deny store ownership.

The amount of merchandise taken from K-Mart was valued at $334, while the amount allegedly taken from Wal-Mart has not yet been determined.

Jason Dryman has been released from jail on bond following the incident, however, Nicole Dryman remains in Catoosa County jail at this time for multiple counts of shoplifting, and a hold for the Hamilton County, Tenn., Sheriff’s Office for theft under $500.
