Two male juveniles and two 18-year-old males have been charged in the May 25 break-in at Cagle Used Cars in LaFayette.

According to Walker County sheriff Steve Wilson:

The teens have also been charged with six counts of motor vehicle theft.

The teens drove four of the six vehicles to a remote area of Pigeon Mountain in the Harrisburg community. Three of the four vehicles were severely damaged and a total loss. The remaining three vehicles suffered moderate to severe damage. The total loss has been estimated at approximately $30,000.

Charged in the crime spree were: 18-year-old Jesse D. Clayton of Chickamauga; 18-year-old Nicolas Wayne Snyder of LaFayette; a 15-year-old male juvenile and 16-year-old male juvenile. Warrants have been issued for Snyder but he has not been arrested.

In a separate investigation, Snyder and a 16-year-old male juvenile have been charged with burglary and two counts of motor vehicle theft at WC Auto Sales on McFarland Gap Road in Rossville on April 21. Two Jeeps taken from this business were found stripped on a power line right-of-way near LaFayette.

Snyder was arrested June 1 and charged with the theft of a Nissan Xterra stolen from the Rock Spring area. He is free on bond in this case.

With regard to the Cagle Used Cars case, Jesse Clayton has been released from jail on bond. One juvenile has been detained at Dalton Youth Development Center and the other juvenile has been released to his parents. Nicolas Snyder is being sought on felony warrants.

Sheriff Wilson praised the diligent work of detective sergeants Mike Hinch, J.B. Mullis and Jeff Herpst for solving the auto theft cases.
