James Ernest Ridley, 61, Rising Fawn
James Ernest Ridley of Rising Fawn died Monday, May 28, 2012. He was 61.
He attended Living Waters Church of God and was a mechanic by trade and he enjoyed drag racing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest C. Ridley; son, Jamie Ridley; and brother, Calvin Ridley.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Ridley of Lookout Mountain; son, Steven Ridley of Rossville; step-daughter, Amber Pedigo; siblings, Robert “Cobb” Ridley, Jeff Ridley, Terry Ridley, Henry Ridley, Louellen Harmon, Robin Henderson, Janice Forshee and Elizabeth Goodson; five grandchildren, Wesley, Dakota, Kelsey, Zach and Zoe Ridley; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service: Thursday, May 31, at 3 p.m. in Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Lookout Mountain. Visitation: Wednesday, May 30, from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 am- 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

George Burl Wilson, 82, Decatur, Tenn.
George Burl Wilson of Decatur, Tenn., died Saturday, May 26, 2012. He was 82.
He was born in LaFayette on Nov. 6, 1929. He was of the Christian faith, a retired and decorated veteran of the United States Navy where he served as a Boatman’s Mate 1st Class with 30 years of honorable service.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Emma Webb and two grandchilren.
Graveside service: Friday, June 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Visitation: Friday, June 1, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Florence Hoffman Blankenship of LaFayette died Monday, May 28, 2012. She was 87.

Donovon Ray Wood, 77, Rossville
Donovon Ray Wood of Rossville died Monday, May 28, 2012. He was 77.
He was born in Fort Payne, Ala., to the late, Virgil and Jewell Wood, but had lived in the north Georgia area for most of his life. He was of the Church of God faith and enjoyed walking and being outdoors. He was a loving son, brother and father, who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include his son, James William Wood of Tenn.; brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Shirley Wood of Apison, Tenn.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Jack Dunn and LaBelle and Gene Mayberry, all of Chickamauga; special friend, Rev. John Tipton; and several nieces and nephews.

Renee Peek Holmes of LaFayette died Friday, May 25, 2012. She was 56.
She was a cherished mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend. A blessing here on earth, she touched the lives of anyone who knew her. She was employed with the Walker County Board of Education. There are no words to express the heartfelt sadness felt with the loss of this beloved individual, but the loving memories left behind will be treasured by all that knew her; today, tomorrow and forever.

Ola Lee Bates, 86, Ringgold
Ola Lee Bates of Ringgold died Sunday, May 27, 2012. She was 86.
She was born in Tunnel Hill to the late Olen Alvin and Dovie Mae Vess. She was a member of Eastern Star and Indian Springs Church of God.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Emory Bates; sisters, Edna Murray, and Ruby Dedmon.
Survivors include her children, Charles Bates of Ooltewah, Donnie Bates of Dalton, James Bates, Randy Bates, Carolyn Williamson of all of Ringgold; sisters, Dorothy Petty of Ooltewah, Mary Lunsford, Peggy Lunsford both of Ringgold; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Clayton Tilden McDaniel, 85, Ringgold
Clayton Tilden McDaniel of Ringgold died May 24, 2012, after a short illness. He was 85.
He was born July 30, 1926, to Ira Tilden and Florence Cook McDaniel and was a lifelong resident of Catoosa County. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a former member of Ringgold United Methodist Church for 58 years and had attended Flintstone Baptist Church and been a member of the Men's Bible Class. He was employed for 28 years at Combustion Engineering Company. Clayton served his country during World War II. He had served on the Catoosa County School Board and the Election Board of Catoosa County. He had volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House since 1990.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Annie Lou Ward McDaniel; sister, Edna M. Hendon; and brother Grady W. McDaniel.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Rosser Stapp McDaniel; son, Stephen B. (Judy Payne) McDaniel of Ringgold; Malinda S. (Bruce) Cawthorne of Cumming, Helen R. Davis (Chris) of Ringgold; grandchildren, Derek (Stacy Stewart) and Nathan McDaniel, Clay (Tiffany Eddingfield) and David (Laura Benton) Brooks, Elizabeth Patty Cherry (Greg) of Cumming; great-grandchildren, Drew and Annie McDaniel, Hannah Brooks, Annabelle and Emmaline Cherry; sister, Minnie Ruth Edwards. Betty Yevonne Tate Hegwood of Rossville died Friday, May 25, 2012, peacefully surrounded by family at Erlanger Hospital. She was 77.
A resident of Rosewood of Fort Oglethorpe, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a graduate of Rossville High School in 1953, she was employed by Flav-o-Rich Dairies, Alloy Fabricators and Chickamauga City Schools Central office. She volunteered at Oakwood Baptist Church Library in Chickamauga, the Colonnade in Ringgold and Erlanger-Hutcheson Medical Center Auxiliary ICU.
She was preceded in death by spouse, John R. Tate; sisters, Ruby Sprayberry, Louise Jay and Gladys Johnson; mother and father, Tom and Irene Roark.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Mike) Brown of Birchwood, Tenn.; grandson, Andy (Kate) Brown of Decatur; granddaughter, Keri (Jack) Taylor of Huntsville, Ala.; great-granddaughter, Nola Brown of Decatur; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Rose Edda Fowler Wilson of East Ridge of Tennessee died Thursday, May 24, 2012. She was 63.
She was born September 24, 1948, in Chattanooga and she was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed going to yard sales and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Oscar Fowler and Dorothy Junkins; sister, Helen Gamble; and brother, Bill Holmes.
Survivors include her loving husband, James “Bubby” Wilson of East Ridge; three children, Donna (Dennis) Anderson of East Ridge, Allison (John) Ellis of Chickamauga, Raymond Lewis of Portland, Ore.; four step- children, James F. Edith C. Cook, 91, Ringgold
Edith C. Cook of Ringgold died Thursday May 24, 2012. She was 91.
She was better known as “Red”, “Aunt Red”, mother and most importantly Nana. She was born on July 13, 1920, to the late Andrew Lee and Addie Maude Roberson Duvall. She was married to the late John “Red” Andrew Cook Jr.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle Cook.
She gave her heart to Jesus at an early age. She loved teaching Sunday school and helping with the Women’s Ministries. Up until her final days she was still listening to the Bible being preached on the radio. She worked at the Shirt Factory in LaFayette for 15 years. She loved to cook and loved to garden. She made the best fried chicken around and could make anything grow. She wasn’t afraid of hard work. She was one of 13 children so she was brought up not to be afraid to try to do anything. She will be joined in heaven with four of the 13, Pauline, Helen, Annie, and Dot. She was a very special lady and will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Dianne (Kenneth) Ficke of Ringgold; sisters, Jenny Davis, Kathleen Capers, Sara Stewart, Clara Romer, Brenda Campbell; brothers, Tom, Dan, and John Duvall; granddaughters, Lisa (Dennis) deVaux, Andrea Edmondson, and Joy Guthrie; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special friends Wanda Evans, Christine Davis, and Martha McKeehan.

Katherine Haddock of Ringgold died Tuesday, May 22, 2012. She was 86.
She was born in Pikeville, Tenn., to the late Holland and Florence Corvin. She lived in Ooltewah before moving to Boynton Community where she lived for 50 years. She worked at Hutcheson Medical Center for many years and was a longtime member of Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee L. Haddock; son, Dennis Haddock; great-grandsons, Brandon James and Seth Haddock

Doretta Jean Towery of Rossville died Tuesday, May 22, 2012. She was 67.
She was born in Illinois to the late William Murphy and Doris Painter Towery, before moving to the north Georgia area in 1996. She worked as a CNA for many years before retiring in 1996.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Hernandez; sister, Juanita Ferguson; and brother, Willard Towery.

Harold Franklin Blakemore, 80, Chickamauga
Harold Franklin Blakemore of Chickamauga died Wednesday, May 23, 2012. He was 80.
He had lived in the Chattanooga and north Georgia areas for most of his life and was a member of Peach Orchard Baptist Church. He was an Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and retired from Corley Manufacturing in 1994 after more than 36 years as a machinist. He was a member of the Crawfish Springs Masonic Lodge #300 F&AM and was active in helping disabled children with the Shriners and St. Judes associations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gladys Blakemore and sister, Barbara Phillips.
Survivors include his loving wife of more than 60 years, Juanita Blakemore of Chickamauga; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie Lynn and (Monetta) Blakemore and Billy Wayne and (Vickie) Blakemore; brother, James “Buddy” Blakemore all of Rossville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Delores Shaw and (Robert) McMinn of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Jean and (Kenneth) Maynor of Fort Oglethorpe; four grandchildren, Donnie Blakemore, Chasta Cagle, Kelly Lynn Blakemore and Denise Hargis; four great-grandchildren, Brandi Nicole Blakemore, Billy Wayne Blakemore, McKenzie Cagle and Blake Cagle; two great-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Dada Conley and several nieces and nephews.

Charles Andrew Clark, 28, Ringgold
Charles Andrew “Andy” of Ringgold died Sunday, May 20, 2012. He was 28.
He was born on October 2, 1983 to Ann Stoker and Raymond Clark and was a lifelong resident of the Ringgold area. He graduated from Ringgold High School in 2002 where he was active in baseball and track. He was loved by his fellow classmates and teachers and they chose him as Mr. RHS for 2002. He was an electrician by trade and was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 175. He was an avid Alabama Football fan and he also enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rev. Charles Stoker; maternal great-grandfather, Rev. Jacob A. Turner; and maternal great-grandfather, Gene “Geno” Headrick.
Survivors include his daughter, Madison Clark of Ringgold; mother, Ann Dudley of Ringgold; father, Raymond Clark of Chickamauga; brothers and sisters, Amber, Austin, Morgan, Amy, and Allan; maternal grandmother, Linda (Gene) Johnson of Chickamauga; paternal grandmother, Katie Clark of Chickamauga; maternal great-grandmother, Nadine Headrick of Chickamauga; uncle, Lamar Stoker of Chickamauga; aunt, Cleo Light of Chickamauga; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and others in his large and loving family.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, during which he served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Woodard; daughter, Peggy Dearing; parents, Brice and Lennie Sanford Woodard; sisters, Pauline velicoff, Evelyn Barrett, and Una Tench; brothers, Ivan, Raymon, Clemon, Henry, Albert and Robert Woodard.
Survivors include his wife, Imogene Ramey Woodard; sons, Kenneth and wife, Edd Waunna of East Ridge, Steve Woodard, and David Woodard both of LaFayette; step-daughter, Cathy Asher; and step-son, Mike Ramey, both of LaFayette; sister, Virginia Hall of Dalton; brother, Herbert and wife Lily Woodard of LaFayette; sixteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Edna Gordo Cummings May of Ringgold died Wednesday, May 23, 2012. She was 91.
She was a lifelong resident of the Catoosa County area, she ws a former employee of Edgewood Chenille, and was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Glenn May Sr.; son, Glenn May Jr.; parents, Mills and Maggie Black Cummings; three sisters, Ruby Brown, Gladys Bunch and Carrie Fowler; two brothers, Clyde and James Cummings.
Survivors include her two daughters, Wanda Norton of Ringgold and Helen (Bob) Helton of Rocky Face; three sisters, Marie Hale, Mary Ruth Fowler and Pearlie Schmidt all of Ringgold; two sister-in-laws, Prima Cochran (Billy Joe) of Dalton and Betty Ramirez of Rome; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren; thirty-one great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Billy Chambers, 77, Chickamauga
Billy “Bill” Chambers of Chickamauga died Wednesday May 23, 2012. He was 77.
He was a member of The First Church of God in LaFayette, and an avid fisherman. He started a working career at Wade Brown Furniture Company in the upholstery department. Then he worked for Gilman Paper Mill in St. Marys, he returned to Walker County were he worked for Lee Henry Upholstery Shop. He finished his working career after 39 years with the Walker County Board of Education.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Ruby Ridley Chambers; sisters, Jean Chambers, and Velma Brown.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Martha “Geri” Cannon Chambers; daughter, Camay Chambers-Wiley and husband, Tommy Wiley of Chickamauga; brother, Charley Chambers of Rossville; special niece, Jessica Young; grandpuppies, Holly and Chase; and several nieces and nephews.

Wilbur Hubert Bishop, 90, Valdosta
Wilbur Hubert Bishop of Valdosta died Tuesday, May 22, 2012. He was 90.
He was born in Aucilla, Fla., on Nov. 28, 1921, to the late George Thomas Bishop and Alice Eva Anderson Bishop. He retired from Owens Illinois now Packaging Corporation of America after 30 years of service. He was a charter member of Azalea City Baptist Church now known as Crossroads Baptist Church where he was active as a deacon, trustee and in the senior ministry.

Her passions in life were her church, family, sewing, cooking and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Grasham; daughter, Sonya G. Hunt; brother, John Pettyjohn; and two sisters, Ethel Madden and Mena Fay Pettyjohn.

Christine Hansard Cowart, 90, Rossville
Christine Hansard Cowart of Rossville died Sunday, May 20, 2012. She was 90.
She was born in Midway on August 14, 1921, as the eldest of six children. She graduated from Milton High School and Reinhardt College. She and her husband, James, raised their family while living 17 years in Rome, and after relocating to Rossville in 1966, she worked for many years for State Farm Insurance Company. She sung in the church choir while living in Rome, and up until the time of her death, was an active member of Brainerd United Methodist Church. She was dedicated to her friends and weekly exercise class and was an avid gardener, bird watcher and pianist. She was the definition of a gracious Southern lady and could always be counted on for encouragement and support. She thoroughly enjoyed being a grandmother and a great grandmother and will be missed by all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Cowart; and brothers, William Hansard and James Hansard.
Survivors include three sisters, Claudine Casey, Betty Mansell, and Bert Johnston; two sons, James (Rachel) and David (Sandy) Cowart; five grandchildren, Zachary (Laurie), Mary, Holly, Carol, Alicia, and Courtney Cowart; and two great-grandchildren, (Harper, Ella) Cowart.

He was born to the late Raleigh and Helen Stidham Garrison in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was of the Protestant faith, enjoyed fishing and Xbox, Alabama, NASCAR, Jeff Gordan and he worked for William McBride Drywall for 17 years.
Survivors include his three children, Chris and Rhonda Garrison of Chattanooga, Justin Garrison of Rossville; sisters, Della Downs and Sandra McBride of Rossville; brother, Robert Deaton of Rock Hill, N.C.; grandson, Lucas Garrison, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service: Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Visitation: Saturday from noon until service time at the funeral home. Brandon Chase Noah, 22, Ringgold
Brandon Chase Noah of Ringgold died Saturday, May 12, 2012. He was 22.
He was born in Fort Oglethorpe, August 14, 1989. He attended Oakwood Baptist at Gateway, Ringgold and was employed at the Animal Clinic East. He loved playing baseball, Nascar, Georgia football and snowboarding. He attended Bearden High School in Knoxville, Ringgold High School and Chattanooga State.
He was an outgoing young man who had a heart of gold and loved to make people laugh. He had a compassion for animals and enjoyed his job. “God looked past his sickness and addiction and saw his heart….and his heart was good.”
He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Jim Noah and Willard Suggs; great-grandparents, Mary and Clyde King, Henry and Gladys Lowery, Dewey and Mattie Suggs, and Bill and Letha Noah.
Survivors include his mother, Sherry Price of Ringgold; father, Curt Noah of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters, Presley Price and Callie Price, both of Ringgold; fiancée, Julianne Smith of Chattanooga; grandparents, Betty Noah of Knoxville, Geneva and James Cole of Rock Spring, Pawpaw, Ronald Adams of Ringgold, Pepaw, Pete Justice of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; first cousins, Latosha (Danny) Parker of Ringgold, Dakota Burrage of LaFayette, Kaleb Burrage of LaFayette, Nicholas Suggs of Ringgold, Tristan Phillips of Ringgold; aunts and uncles, Michael (Deidre) Suggs of Ringgold, Angel (Jody) Burrage of LaFayette, Scott Noah of Knoxville; great-aunts and -uncles, Rabon (Frances) Lowery of Florence, Ala., Billy (Alma) Noah; and pets, Mojo Rising, Hendrix and Marley.
Funeral services: Friday, May 18, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Burris, Rev. Chad Russell, Keith Kernowski officiating. Burial: Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
