An East Ridge, Tenn., man was arrested in Fort Oglethorpe after he allegedly stole beer and dog food from the BiLo on Battlefield Parkway while intoxicated.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

Marcus Dewayne Davis, 51, of 3901 Weldon Drive in East Ridge, Tenn., was arrested Sunday, Feb. 5, on a charge of public intoxication after he was stopped by police while pushing a shopping cart full of stolen merchandise.

Davis remains in Catoosa County jail with a bond set at $375.

Officers were dispatched to the area near the Walgreen’s pharmacy at the corner of Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway) and City Hall Drive at approximately 6:15 p.m. Sunday in regards to a call from a BiLo shopper that a white male left the grocery store pushing a shopping cart loaded with cases of stolen beer and dog food.

“I located the suspect crossing the Parkway at Fant Drive trying to avoid Officer McAllister, who was on the parking lot of Walgreen’s,” Lt. Steve Blevins wrote in the report. “After stopping the man, he admitted that he took the items from the store without paying. BiLo confirmed that the items seized were the property taken from their store, but they did not want to prosecute the shoplifting case.”

Davis was then placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to Catoosa County jail without inci-dent.
