COMMUNITY · Author Russell Bonds will be the highlighted speaker during the Civil War Show and Sale, which runs Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bonds will speak Feb. 4 at noon, discussing his book “Stealing The General.” The book chronicles the Great Locomotive Chase that occurred when Union soldiers raided the West-ern and Atlantic rail line on April 12, 1862. COMMUNITY · Erlanger at Hutcheson will be sponsoring “A Sweet Heart Affair” for Na-tional Heart Health Month. This free event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at Hutcheson on the Parkway, is designed to promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle for women. Many free screenings related to heart health as well cancer will be offered by local physicians and health care professionals including the following: melanoma, oral can-cer, diabetes, circulation check and cholesterol. Seminars by area physicians will also be held on topics surrounding, cholesterol, gynecology and other health related issues women face throughout the stages of life.
