COMMUNITY · The Alzheimer’s Assocation will present a provider training workshop Thursday, Jan. 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 922 East Morris Street in Dalton. The workshop will give caregivers an overview of Alzheimer’s disease and teach care strategies for patients and families. The cost of the course is $60 per person, or $40 per per-son when 3 or more people from the same facility register. Registration deadline is Monday, an. 9. COMMUNITY · The LaFayette-Walker County Public Library Teen Advisory Board will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 10. All teenagers interested in the community, the library or volunteering are encouraged to join. Please note that this month we will meet on a Tuesday, rather than a Thursday, due to scheduling conflicts.
COMMUNITY · LFO High School is offering studio space for local artists and classes for community members. Art-ists wishing to utilize the art room and equipment are welcome to attend any of the scheduled evening sessions working in your medium. For community members, classes in stained glass and painting will be held four/five nights monthly. Room 310 will be open from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. each evening. COMMUNITY · A meeting of the executive committee of the board of directors of Hutcheson Medical Center, Inc. has been scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 11, at noon in the board room of Hutcheson Medical Center.
EDUCATION · Walker County Schools will host a special education rights workshop at Rock Spring Elementary School from 9 a.m. until noon. Parents/guardians of students with disabilities are encouraged to attend to receive important information concerning services and students with special needs. This workshop will be an excellent resource for parents/guardians new to the special education program or with a newly diagnosed child.
