Dear editor,

My wife and I recently stopped off to visit your Patrick Celburne bronze sculpture in Ringgold’s confederate park. I just wanted to let you know how impressed we were with this magnificent piece. Sculptor Ron Tunsion did a wonderful job in bringing the famed Civil War general “to life.” It's a dynamic piece, full of energy and personality. One gets the feeling that he (Cleburne) could spring off his pedestal at any moment and go dashing forward into battle.

The Patrick Cleburne Society, along with the Ringgold Telephone Co., is to be commended for their long and faithful efforts in bringing the work into existence.

As Gen. William Hardee said in his eulogy to Cleburne, “[He was] an Irishman by birth, a Southerner by adoption and residence, a lawyer by profession, a soldier in the British army by accident, and a soldier in the Southern armies from patriotism and conviction of duty in his manhood.” Your sculpture is a most fitting tribute to this most extraordinary man and solider.
