An arrest has been made in the hit-and-run in LaFayette that occurred Friday evening, July 1.

LaFayette police arrested William Greg Snider, 50 of Cavender Street in LaFayette on Thursday, July 7.

Snider has been charged with fleeing the scene of an accident.

According to LaFayette police detective Stacey Meeks, additional charges may be brought against Snider for the hit-and-run.

On Friday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m., a man was traveling on a Honda CX 500 motorcycle on Colerain Street (next to Choo Choo BBQ) in west LaFayette when he was hit by a car.

The motorcyclist was about to enter South Chattanooga Street when a man driving a maroon Ford LTD car turned onto Colerain Street from South Chattanooga Street, turning directly into the motorcyclist.

The driver of the car fled the scene, heading west on Colerain Street.

The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries. Walker County EMS transported him to Erlanger hospital in Chatta-nooga for a precautionary checkup.

“We would like to commend officer Brock Campbell and sergeant Robbie Tate for making the arrest. Because of their hard work, the offender was identified and apprehended quickly,” Meeks said.

Snider was transported to the Walker County Jail on Thursday.
